Well, cuddling isn't one of my kinks, so really, I probably wouldn't write it unless a friend asked me to do so as a favor, which is pretty much the opposite of self-indulgent.
Honestly? The reason this fic is so self-indulgent is. Uh. I kind of ... cheered, when Carson died. There was wine and fist-pumping and me and my roommate screaming and clutching each other with glee. Not that Carson was a horrible character mind you, just, he had this whole responsible-adult-with-a-conscience thing going on and it was seriously harshing my squee.
So I wrote a fic where I got to bitch Carson out for pages and pages, and blame John Sheppard for it. After which, I proceeded to mock Dr. Who, for no other reason than because I could. That rant existed long before Rodney's name was ever attached to it.
