Look Ma! Cut tags!

So I promised myself I'd get some of my calc homework done tonight, so as not to end up doing it all tomorrow night at the last minute. Why am I not doing it now? Well, I figure it's a little past midnight and with the way my sleep schedule is all fucked up I'm not going to even be tired till 4:30 in the morning and I'll probably end up going to bed at six (it's nice not having to wake up till 11:20am). So, yeah -- 6 more hours. And is it just me? -- or are the two methods for finding the integral of a gradient field, like, exactly the same. I mean, you're doing the exact same thing twice. In the "second method," your just working backwords from the way you use a function to get it's gradient. In the "first method," you're supposedly using the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus for Line Integrals. Whatever. You're doing the exact same thing. Working backwards. The only difference is that the first method includes the reasoning as to *why* you're *allowed* to work backwords -- because for all we know, that could, like, totally not work if not for the fundamental theorem telling us it does work -- what with line integrals being indepedent of path.

Anyway, I like what we're doing in my calc class right now. It makes some of the trash we did in that physics class I failed make more sense. Physics teachers kept throwing around terms like "independent of path" all the time, but never said why. I think this is why a bunch of people end up double majoring in Physics and Calculus. The two are so interrelated.

So yeah, there's my little rant for the evening. I'm sure it didn't make sense to anyone but me, and possibly [livejournal.com profile] evenstarjuliet, who already did all this calculus trash about three months ago.

But lets forget that for a moment. Right now, I'm trying to make icons (of course -- what else would I be doing?). I don't really have much to make vidicons with at the moment that I haven't *already* made vidicons with. I did download a bunch of firefly screenshots from here, which I plan to eventually make icons of, or perhaps some collage type wallpapers. Now I just need to think of clever things to put on them -- the icons, I mean.

So I was looking though the various pictures I have on my hard drive. I realized that my picture files have grown to ridiculous proportions. Ridiculous. I mean, honestly -- who needs 63 pictures of Orlando Bloom? NOBODY -- that's who. Damn my pic-spamming friends list! The least you people could do is even out the spread so I could get some more Gregory Smith or Chris Pratt or Tom Welling or Michael Rosenbaum. Instead it's, like, all Orlando all the time. Okay, so I shouldn't complain. After all, it's the same people spamming me with Orlando Bloom that are spamming me with Billy Boyd and Dominic Monoghan. And I loves them. And it is nice that virtually the entire LotR cast is highly photogenic.

Speaking of which -- how did all these LOTRPS people end up on my friends list? As far as I could tell, I friended people based on mutual interest in Everwood, Harry Potter, or Smallville (plus [livejournal.com profile] taraljc who I friended for Jake 2.0). So what the hell am I doing reading LOTRPS? (that's Lord of the Rings real person slash -- in other words, slashing cast members as opposed to characters) And more importantly -- why do I have all these JPEG files clogging up my hard drive? I mean, seriously people. What the fuck?!?

And for the record, I do not want to ravish Orlando Bloom. He's not my favorite actor. I wouldn't even call him the prettiest actor. Ian Somerhalder wins that award in my mind. The fact that I have more pictures of him on my computer than of everyone else combined is a product of availability, as opposed to preference.

So where was I? Icons. Right. I'm thinking I need a Billy Boyd icon. Or possibly a Billy/Dom icon. I'll get to that later. Now, I'm making icons pretty much for the fun of it. Expect a large and fun-filled gratuitous icon post sometime tomorrow. Most likely I'll be giving away a bunch.

Oh, and also -- in a frivolously expensive bout of morbid curiosity, I just bought myself Calendario Romano 2004. *snicker* I'm going to the special hell.

Well holy jeebus -- there was a potful of segueless random.

Oh! Before I forget...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] silentfire!!!
