So I thirst watched TNT’s Will (the William Shakespeare thing) which is, like, not great, but the dude playing Will is like, so very specifically my type it is uncanny and he weeps so prettily with his giant doll eyes (I have a weakness, okay, a frailty even, for doll eyed slender pretty men with longish hair and stubble in tight fitting leather period leggings did I mention how SPECIFIC this show was to my interests? unsettlingly).

And while I found the het romance very ueurgh (cheating+Catholic guilt+a bunch of other bad het trope bs) I did very much like all of the scenes where Shakespeare gets in real close to Kit Marlowe and tries to glare at him but then keeps glancing down at Marlowe’s mouth like he can’t help himself.

Oh, I enjoyed that series so much - all that Baz Luhrman style flashiness and mixing of styles and colour and music. If there is such a thing as presteam rock this is it! Such georgeous visuals (and yep, that includes Laurie Davidson) and fun approach to Sheakespear period drama with some spy drama and alchemy sprinkled in. I was gutted that they didn't renew it.
