Sooooo...vid
Oct. 28th, 2004 04:32 pmPosted this two days ago. Just realized I accidentally posted it under a custom filter instead of public. If you already saw it, sorry for the repost.
I originally got the idea to make this vid oooh...saaaaay...five months ago. Holy shit. That's almost half a year. Yeah, this one's been sitting for a while. At the time I didn't have any big plans for it. I was still working on Windows Movie Maker. I rented the movie and, thanks to a convenient online tutorial, ripped it to my computer. The rip was fucked up. The sound didn't sync with the video. That didn't matter, however, because I only wanted the movie in order to vid it.
That same rip is what I'm using to make my vid now. It's been sitting on my computer for all these months, doing nothing up until about a week ago. Well, not totally nothing. I did take screencaps and rearrange the letters in the movie credits to spell out my vid credits. When I get around to actually doing my vid credits in premiere, I'll see if I can imitate the whole streaking across the screen effect the credits had in the movie.
Methinks I hear a voice from the corner whispering, "Pssst! Your obsessiveness is showing!"
Where was I? I had a point. I know I did. Oh yeah -- so my intentions. Originally I just wanted to make a vid to the movie because 1) I liked the movie 2) I loved the slash and 3) I'd be vidding something new. This is my first movie vid. I've never made a vid before where the slash wasn't canon (granted in this movie, it might as well be -- I've had *no* problem finding appropriately slashy scenes).
Over the months, I kind of forgot about this vid, only to suddenly find new authors in the TF&TF fandom and have my love for Brian/Dom refueled. This time around I had a definite and specific intent. To pimp. I wanted to pour everything I love about this movie and this fandom into a vid and make even a perfect stranger *see* why I love this fandom and hopefully want to be part of it themselves.
So this is my challenge -- to make a good recruiter vid. I have never vidded with the intention of recruiting before. People have referred to my Oz vid as a recruiter vid, but that wasn't my intention when I made it. I'm hoping that vid wasn't just a fluke and I'll be able to pull it off again. I know if I can just show people why I love this fandom, they will love it too.
Okay, I'm putting an end to this line of thought right here. I'm getting emotional over car porn. That's...kind of sad.
Really need to make myself a TF&TF icon. I'm thinking one that says, "My fandom knows how to drive a stick."

Date: 2004-10-28 09:30 pm (UTC)I meant to tell you earlier, but I'm so lame about responding sometimes, that I can't really take a file that large by email -- or at least, I could, but it would take years. But if you let me know when you have something you want looked at, just give me a URl and I'll head to my dad's, where I can DL it. (Or a friend with high speed access.) I have a very bad dialup from hell, and it takes forever even if I'm lucky enough to keep the connection from dropping. BTW, what compression program do you use? WMV, I assume??

Date: 2004-10-28 11:06 pm (UTC)I'm going to have a high quality avi and a lower quality version of I'm not sure what. WMV or Real Media are the formats I'm capable of formatting in.
