So...Thanksgiving.

It started Wednesday night, with a small portion of my dorm's Latin American population coming in and out of my room to pour themselves some of my roomate's vodka (she was only offering it to close friends). Of course, that didn't stop the rest of the Latin American population in my dorm from getting drunk off various, lower quality alcoholic beverages. At some point a bunch of girls a few rooms over started singing Puerto Rican Christmas songs at the top of their lungs as my roomate muttered "What the fuck is wrong with them?" I was making icons, until I decided to get up off my anti-social ass and hang out with people.

So my roomate and a bunch of people whose names I can't remember (I'm really, really bad with names) were standing out in the hallway, most of them tipsy. Two guys had guitars and they were playing "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins while we all sang along at the top of our lungs (well, I mainly sang the chorus, as I do not know most of the rest of the words). We ended up migrating to someone's room, where we played songs off the owner of the room's computer and sang along with those. There was some more guitar playing to go along with some of the music. Then one of the guitar playing guys went off on some errand and another guy picked up his guitar (despite having no idea how to either play or sing) and started strumming off-key. All good fun. Nothing he did was actually annoying, so much as funny. Plus, he was pretty hot.

We ended up singing along to crap until around 4:00am. I found out that Johnny Cash's "Hurt" (the song played at the end of "Shattered" -- the recent Smallville episode) is actually a cover version of a NIN song by the same name. It's kind of sad really -- Johnny Cash won tons of awards for this song he didn't even write. And Nine Inch Nails? Didn't win shit. In my opinion, both versions of the song are equally good, so it's kind of sad that the people who wrote it got nothing out of it. Anyway, I really want to buy that NIN CD now -- I think it's the same album with "Closer" on it.

I wasn't tired, for some strange reason, but everyone else was, so I ended up watching a few One Piece episodes before turning in aroung 8:00am. I was supposed to meet my sister at 10:00am to shop for some food, but all the stores were closed. I ended up going back to bed and waking up a few hours later. I puttered around for a bit before heading off for her place at 2:00. The food was so fucking good. chicken instead of turkey, but nevertheless fabulous. She made stuffing with cranberries in it and yams and bread from scratch (because the stores were closed and she couldn't buy rolls) and this pie that had boysenberries? rasberries? whatever -- it was purple and good. Cranberry, of course, was store bought and straight from the can (I like it that way, goddamnit!).

I stayed with her and cleaned all the dishes. I watched movies from her boyfriend's DVD collection (he was in NY with his family, so unable to join us) -- Bourne Identity, Shanghai Knights, and Bringing Down the House. I crashed by her. In the morning I woke up and watched Maid in Manhattan. I like movies, you may have noticed. Anyway, so I had leftovers for breakfast (mmmm....) and returned to my dorm. The sky was really overcast today. It was raining . It will probably freeze before it gets a chance to dry up. I'm planning on buying boots tomorrow, so my feet will be protected when it starts to snow.

In other news, some scenes I wrote for the upcoming chapter of Bitter Water seem to have gone missing. I wrote them a few months ago, and I've finally reached the point in the plot where they fit in. Now I can't find them. This is very upsetting. I think I'll check if I saved them on my school account (as opposed to on my personal computer) before I try rewriting them. Either way, chapter five is getting written tomorrow. No, I'm serious. Stop laughing. I'm serious!

I'm not laughing, I believe you. Really. I do.

*pauses* Okay, maybe I laughed a little.
