lierdumoaClasses are over. I didn't do as well as I should have, mainly because I'm flighty and show up late, or occasionally not at all to class. I figure I'm good so long as I can fix that problem within the next year or two. I'm proud of the work I did on all my final projects, which in the end I think counts for more than my GPA. Out in the real world, anyway, my reel will be worth more than my credentials.
We did a little in class vote for favorite short film in my cinematography class and I tied for first, which won me a free roll of S8 film. I'll try to use it over the summer.
I had two different panic attacks, first when I showed my editing final to the teacher. My timeline started at hour 1, which she accidentally read as minute 1, and for a while she thought my project was a minute shorter than it actually was (which would have put it below the required length).
Then for my computer animation class, in the hands-on portion of the final, we were supposed to make an ant jump from a blade of grass to a leaf. We were given the background, the foreground, and a photoshop file of the ant with each limb/appendage on a separate layer. I flipped my ant horizontal in photoshop before opening it in After Effects. When the instructor went to grade it, he imported the original, unflipped source file. Of course that meant all my points of rotation for each limb were in the wrong place, so the animation ended up looking like a complete mess. He gave me a C. I went literally goggle eyed when I saw the grade. I went back and showed him what it was supposed to look like and he changed my grade to an A.
Oh so relieved classes are over.
I have three weeks of pretty much uninterrupted free time before my summer classes start. I'll be getting as much vidding done as possible. Clipping is neverending. 5 episodes down, 11 to go. My goal is to get 4 more clipped by the end of today. If I can keep up the pace of at least 4 episodes a day I should be able to finish everything on time. So far I've made 53 clips taking up 2.68 GB (1280x720 XviD).
Yesterday I edited a little over a minute out of my song. I may go back and edit out more when I actually start putting clips down, but for now I think I'm good.
It looks like I'm going to be glued to my computer for the next two weeks. If anyone wants to talk to me on instant messenger and save my sanity, it would be very much appreciated. lierdumoa on AIM and Y!M.
