Drabbles Ahoy!
Feb. 26th, 2004 10:58 amAccording to
wyoluvr, today is Pointless Drabble Writing Day.
Well, I hadn't yet written anything for The OC. And since nobody would write me any Julie/Luke fic (you all suck, by the way), I used this opportunity to write some for myself. Two drabbles. Exactly 100 words each. They're probably not as pointless as they should be, but whatever. Crossposted to
pointless100 (see post).
Entitlement
Luke always thought of Marissa's mom as Mrs. Cooper. And it wasn't because he still thought of her as his girlfriend’s mom. She didn’t strike him as a ‘mother,’ or ‘wife.’ Mrs. Cooper wasn't a title for Luke -- at least, not anymore. It was a nickname. A regular endearment.
He knew calling her that made her feel weird, guilty even, for opening her door and her thighs to him. So he tried to adjust to her given name. But whether it was murmured under his breath or screamed out during orgasm, the word Julie always tasted wrong in his mouth.
Ultimatum
When Luke walks Marissa home from their first date, her mother is waiting at the doorstep.
Luke offers a greeting, which Mrs. Cooper ignores. "Marissa, honey, go inside. I need to speak with Luke."
Luke smiles angelically. "Mrs. Cooper?"
She waits until Marissa leaves before addressing him. "Be careful with her," she says, "or you’ll answer to me."
"Yes ma’am," he replies, though he doesn’t feel very intimidated.
She tucks a strand of hair behind the delicate shell of her earlobe. Luke realizes she isn’t motherly enough to be intimidating. She’s too pretty.
She's the prettiest girl he's ever seen.
"...we played ultimatum, you know -- who of all your friends' moms would you rather sleep with?"
~ The OC ep. 1.19
Many thanks to
weirdqafan for helping me track down the songs I asked for.
