Okay, so I downloaded a bunch of DVD ripping software. I decided to test it out today. I just finished creating an avi of The Fast and the Furious. Is renting a movie and then burning it less or more illegal than downloading it?

Just out of curiousity.

I got more work done on IWLT pt. 2. It looks like I might actually be finishing it tonight. *crosses fingers* Right now I'm listening to my new Franz Ferdinand CD. Franz Ferdinand is the shiznit. I'm taking a break from writing to read Everwood fic. Seriously -- I can't read QaF right now. I need a break from the fandom. You guys are getting way too angsty. Lighten up.

Oh, yeah -- on last night's episode. Wow. Cowlip, subtlety is really not your strong point. That said, I really liked the episode. Loved the ending. I'd go more into detail on my reaction, but I don't particularly feel like lj-cutting anything.

As much as I love the fandom, all the angst is virtually overload. And I must commend you on your musical preferences - Franz Ferdinand rocks. "Take Me Out" is one of my favorites (personally).

Take care-

I love the instrumentals in that song. It's not my favorite, though. I really like "Auf Achse," "The dark of the Matinee" and "Michael."

As to my musical preferences -- my taste in music is really, really random. Give me any artist and I'll probably be able to tell you something I love by them and something I hate by them.

Out of my own curiosity, which DVD ripping software did you use? I'm trying to find a decent one.

Kuddos for the Franz Ferdinand selection. "Shopping For Blood" is one of the great loves of my life.

I actually found a DVD ripping guide. It goes step by step, and it's pretty easy to follow. Go here: http://www.dvdripguides.com/dvdrip3a.php

Well I don't know about America, but over here renting and burning is as illegal as downloading, you are only legally allowed to rip a dvd when you own the film and even then there are strict laws on selling and making a profit etc

Nice to see that everyone pays attention to that! lol

Oh I love Franz Ferdinand!

Oh, hee! I know they're both illegal. It was more a question from a moral standpoint -- which do you think is worse kind of thing.

hmmm personally I dont give two hoots about ripping off billion pound industries! but generally I would say I preferred renting, because downloading you often get films that are only just in the cinema.

I dont really think there's much difference in it though.

Yes, truly there isn't.

I haven't heard "Auf Achse" or "Michael" (I lack the actual album) but I'll have to check those out :) I agree, "Matinee" is excellent.

Music variety - the way to listen.

[livejournal.com profile] eleveninches made a vid to "Michael" not too long ago. You should check it out, definitely. It's what got me to buy the CD in the first place.
