For The Fast and the Furious.

My Brian O'Connor...

...didn't have much of a home life
...values family
...respects his elders
...thought maybe the men down at the precinct could be his family

...loves speed
...loves the sun
...likes shiny things
...isn't picky about food
...grew up eating whatever the 80's equivalent was of Easy Mac
...always thought he'd end up a cop -- nice shiny job
...did okay in school
...had a couple of steady girlfriends; not too many since he became a cop
...loved his job as a cop
...was damn good at it
...looked like a narc, walked like a narc, quacked like a narc, you get the point
...but he was so earnest you'd never believe him to be undercover
...likes protecting people
...doesn't care much about protecting himself

...is idealistic
...wants the best for his friends
...makes friends easily when he tries, but doesn't put forth the effort often
...knows his gut and usually follows it
...learned the hard way that bad people and people who break the law are not one and the same

...has no idea how to dance
...typical white boy
...kisses like an overeager teenager
...knows how to fuck, though
...is not a bottom
...is versatile
...is not gay
...is versatile
...is, like, totally easy

...is really fucking pretty
...and knows it, though he's not overly vain
...and uses it
...feels bad for using Mia
...would do it again, though

...wishes he could have known Jesse better
...never really spoke to Letty
...wonders if that would have made a difference

...really did love Mia; she just wasn't Dom
...was attracted to Mia the moment he set eyes on her
...then set his eyes on Dom
...fell stupidly in love with him
...did his best not to show it, but it leaked out sometimes
...latched onto him like a too cute puppy
...liked the way Dom moved
...liked the way Dom gestured when he spoke
...liked the way Dom spoke, even when the speaking was yelling
...didn't know whether to be pissed off or turned on when Dom gave him a public dressing down after their first race
...decided on turned on
...was putty in Dom's hands whenever Dom opened his mouth
...hoped to God that Dom was loud in bed
...figured he'd never get that lucky

...would do anything for Dom
...anything

Ooh. wow. I think I can get behind most of this...

I am very fond of the last one. big fan of obsessive love/devotion.

I also want the other one. Hee. It's like a fannish character guide.

also...he is a bottom. He just hates that people assume it...so he makes Dom prove it to him, over and over and over.

I pretty much added that in there because of your fic. I can tell that's how you write him, and though I like your stories it's the one thing I can't agree with you on at all.

But then, dom/sub relationships have never appealed to me in fic. I think because it's the opposite of the way I would want any of my personal sexual relationships to play out. It's the reason that despite Buffy being my first fandom I was never really able to get into Spike/Angel slash.

I actually agree that Brian is versatile with a preference (and is a really toppy bottom)...but it's not a stone cold preference -- because Bone's whole Almost series worked for me in a major way. I'm pretty clear that once they got themselves sorted out the boys tend to switch hit...

I do think I tend to write the character who I perceive as having the most control (emotionally) as the one most likely to bottom...and I don't tend to think of it as dom/sub in the BDSM sense...

also there is the slash preoccupation -- which I share -- of lots of anal sex, which isn't necessarily reflective of most gay sexual relations. I think it's another thing that sets slash off from gay erotica...but it could be just me.

But probably mostly for me..it's the visual aesthetic that plays in my head. The actual physical appeal of two guys in an intimate physical position...It plays "prettier" in my head to have Dom behind Brian and able to touch his chest...very possibly because PW's body type appeals to me more than VD's. (Although I was pretty impressed by the body change for VD in Chronicles...huzzah! If Dom looked like Riddick, we might have a different aesthetic all together.)

Oh, I don't either. When I'm writing sex scenes the one topping isn't necessairily the one in control of the scene. The sexual position can remain the same while the emotional control varies, and vice versa. It's simply that I'm greedy and I can't stick with one position, emotional or physical, without wanting to see all the alternatives.

That does make sense. I think this has to do with the way I read and write sex. I don't know if you've ever read any of my porn (I've written quite a bit of it, but none in this fandom). I put myself in the place of the characters. Even when I write sex in the third person it tends to read as if I'm writing in POV. I think this is how authors can make a sex scene work for me even if I don't personally find the characters attractive. Obviously the characters would find each other attractive, so as long as I'm placed in their POV's I can still enjoy the scene.

As for [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone -- I think she's one of those brilliant authors who can make *anything* hot. In all my time of reading fanfic I've only come across a handful of authors who can do that for me.

I think if I ever were to write a Brian/Dom sex scene, the focus wouldn't necessairily be anal sex. There'd probably be a lot of exploratory licking involved. And I'm going to stop right there or I'll end up planning it out in my head, and I don't really need porn distracting me from vidding at this point in time.

I haven't read your work, i don't think. Expect me to go poking around a bit [G].

although, you know..I'm showing great restraint in not atempting begging, nagging or bribery to get you to put in a little time and energy into fulfilling that last paragraph...

I mean, you *need* a break form vidding, right?

Heh. I'd suggest you actually read my porn before asking me to write you any.

The most recent stuff, and probably the best stuff is QaF -- I'm pretty sure all of it's readable even if you know nothing about the fandom.

If you've ever seen Once Upon a Time in Mexico you might also check out the pwp I have for it in the Misc section of my memories.

until I got home to read the QaF stuff...sheesh. Talk aobut melt your monitor...er Brian/Justin and leather. OMG.

Trust me. You can write for me any time you want. Am off to read OUaTiM...next.

Although, you are correct in that we don't approach writing sex the same way. I always have a favorite in any pairing, but I'm honestly a pairing fan, and a pretty hard-core OTP fan (with an occasioanl threesome thrown in for my friends) but I don't think I project myself into either character and most especially not when writing sex. There's not a lot of self identification (if that's the term) of me with the characters. With the *situations* I write about, yes, frequently. (i.e. I'm working on a bit where Brian's father dies and would never deny there's some RL overlap in some of it...not a direct print but residual emotional images, I'm sure).

So, I don't really construct sexual scenes out of personal preferences outside of the aesthetic ones...I'd probably say I'm more influenced by the still photography of male couples than anything else...(and maybe a little european gay porn...) What appeals to the camera in my eye dictates positions than any real statement of personality.

Heh. [livejournal.com profile] seperis still owes me for writing that for her. ::is bitter::

There's not a lot of self identification (if that's the term) of me with the characters.

Yeah, I don't think I know too many authors who write the way I write. A friend told me once, "Most people write POV like a theater monologue, but you write like you're not aware of your audience at all." That's a problem when I'm, say, writing a complex series of actions and not realizing that I've completely failed to explain the motivations behind those actions. What it means for porn is that I do my best to think like the character I'm writing, and while in that mindset, just write what would feel good to me.

I'm pretty sure all my fic is somewhat Mary-Sued because of this particular writing style, but no one's complained yet.

You know, my porn writing style might be influenced by the fact that I was exposed to written pornography long before I was exposed to visual pornography. Visual smut forces you to focus on what you're seeing. With written smut, none of my senses were being stimulated, so there was no reason for me to put more weight on one sense than another.
