lierdumoa: (life hard? vid [permetaform])

[livejournal.com profile] wip_amnesty weekend is approaching! I have a load of WIP's, but only a few that I'm willing to give up on/admit to having written. There's a QaF crackfic, somre random QaF RPS notes that I never got around to organizing into a working outline, and a very heavily outlined Everwood fic for which I got about half a scene actually written. I'll be posting those this weekend and deleting them off my computer.

The following quote amused me greatly yesterday.

Famous quotes you didn't hear in Art History: "Dammit, Caravaggio, are you drawing Bible fanart AGAIN?!"

~[livejournal.com profile] bigbigtruck

I mentioned it to my roommate, [livejournal.com profile] adrienne2, who responded that the bible is essentially the world's oldest and biggest fandoms, and that it's flamewars involved, well, actual flame and war.

But then, we were kind of on the subject of looking at the world through a fangirl's eyes. She showed me Trainspotting, which I'd never seen before, and I made the comment at one point that I'd be enjoying the movie so much more if it were gay porn. Ewan McGregor + That Guy from Hackers = OMGhotness.

And speaking of That Guy from Hackers -- I've also seen him in Mansfield Park. Three different movies, three vastly different accents. I have no idea how he actually talks.

So [livejournal.com profile] permetaform and I were talking the other day about "Rose" by A Perfect Circle. Basically, she wanted a fandom and couldn't think of one, so I went looking. The lyrics are rife with religious metaphors, starting with a devil metaphor, and then various God references that the speaker applies to himself. I got the sense it was about someone leaving God behind to become powerful in his own right. I came up with St. John from X-Men. [livejournal.com profile] permetaform was iffy about this suggestion, as it is lacking in source material and didn't fit to the song quite as perfectly in her head as it did in mine.

And now I have a problem. Because, well, this song is about St. John in my head. It is impossible for me to find another character for the song when my brain has already decided who the perfect character is. Even if there is little source for him, the only way I would be able to see this song as representative of someone else is if someone were to prove it to me with a vid.

So [livejournal.com profile] permetaform is still looking for a fandom, and I have a shiny new vidbunny I totally don't want.

Actually, I seem to be in an A Perfect Circle mood lately. My last vidbunny that I got was for their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine," again to X-Men, as a Magneto & Xavier vid (non-slashy, dual POV). And hell, while I'm musicspamming...

Firefly vid is still progressing, albeit slowly. Simon Tam is still pretty in that Simon Tam way. The ageing filter has both not worked and worked beautifully. The source doesn't so much look aged as stylized to look aged-ish. I'm actually really happy with it. I figure that fits the show's premise perfectly of the old west in space. Not genuinely old, but giving the impression of being old. I took screen shots, though they only partially show what the filter does in the vid (remember this post).

Meh, anyway. I still have a lot of vidding to do, and some additional clipping that I've been putting off for far too long. Hopefully I'll get the vid mostly finished today.

Signing off.

Okay, really, really idiotic question - what does WIP stand for? For that matter, what about OTP? I have my hunches, but I still feel really dumb. *hides*
