The Political:
lelenevity (one of my non-fandom friends) does a rant on racism, here.
Virginia Republicans want to fineblack people who wear trousers so low the underwear hangs over the top, here.
This Laura Bush photo was mentioned in a previous post, but I think it's worth mentioning twice. ::gigglesnort::
Also, I saw a bunch of good vids these past two weeks.
Buffy Possible by
theamyrlin
Fandom: BtVS
Summary: She vidded Buffy to the Kim Possible theme song, and matched clips and effects to the cartoon's own intro sequence. Very clever idea, and well executed.

We Might As Well Be Strangers by
sex_and_tea
Fandom: L'Appartement
Summary: Seems to focus on love triangles in the movie (which I've never seen). Uses movement to great effect, matching expressions and head turns and zooms to beat and mood. Loved the flow, and it really made me want to see the film.

Karaoke Soul by
lithium_doll
Fandom: Invisible Man
Summary: Darien character sketch. Very appropriate to the show and the character. Great use of effects. Interesting use of freeze frame and grayscale. Especially love the end seqence, where she manages to give the impression of spinning motions through her cutting and fading.

Fandom: due South
Summary: Ray Kowalski character sketch. I never saw the show (though I was able to identify what was going on in some scenes due to the copious amount of fanfiction I've read), but this is obviously a perfect match of song to character. I love how it takes advantage of all his twitches and mannerisms. I could write a whole rant on how vidders don't pay enough attention to mannerisms and quirks. This vid just hits all my characterization and movement and beat-whoring kinks.
