I walked to the kitchen this morning and thought -- what is up with this radio station? Really bizarre metal covers of 80's songs? Ooooooooooooh!

Right.

Love songs. Valentines. It all makes sense.

I don't really have plans for today. I'm going to do some vidding, probably. I'm single. I'm perfectly happy being single. I mean, having someone to regularly make out with would be nice, but I'm not really feeling the loss.

Oh, hey! Guess what! My vidding anniversary is coming up. I'd forgotten all about mine till [livejournal.com profile] f1renze mentioned hers, and I remembered that we started vidding a few weeks apart. I went and checked the "date created" on my copy of WMM (makes me glad that when I tried to delete it that one time it refused to leave my computer). So, yeah, Sunday of Escapade, the 27th I will have been vidding for a year. How the time does fly.

I've decided to finish my Simon!vid in celebration. I tend to work faster when I give myself deadlines.

[livejournal.com profile] permetaform told me yesterday that apparently the maximum number of tracks you can have in premiere is 99. We then started pondering what one would need to do that would theoretically require the use of 99 tracks. I told her it would never happen. She said -- you say that *now.* I said, if that ever happens, then I'm doing something deeply wrong.

I then went on to explain my Gollum!vid outline to her. She boggled when I told her I was including the "beaver hat" verse. No, no, see it's a figurative beaver hat! And that's when I realized that I had essentially raped the song to death.

Oh, what else. Party last Saturday. Special Dessert at my co-op. We had it last semester. This time the party kind of blew, which upset me because dude. It is against my co-op's nature to have a lame party. Eugh. Well, it's usually an in-house party, and too many out of housers this time toned us way down.

Friend Alec, the nice architecture student with the sexy bone structure, wore a dress to the party. Friend Dwight came up to him drunk and said jokingly that he had sworn off women and Alec was taunting him by "being a woman for the night," all in a bad English accent. Dwight then wandered off again, and I turned to Alec and said -- "I had no idea your dress came with a vagina." To which he replied -- "Me neither. Maybe I should go to the bathroom and make sure my cock's still there."

And then we made out. W00t!!! ([livejournal.com profile] spaggel, restrain your homicidal urges)

I danced the tequila with Virgilio. I think that's how his name is spelled. That's how it's pronounced, anyway, and it's the coolest name EVAR. That was the higlight of the evening. And now I'm getting all nostalgic for the last Special Dessert, where there was a lot more nudity and making out and no out-of-houser normals going, "OMG people in their underwear! How weird and scandalous! I can't wait till I get back to my dorm so I can tell all my dorm friends how wierd and scandalous the party was."

Little by little my co-op is getting more conservative. It's kinda pissing me off. Ah, well. At least the food still rocks.

Speaking of food, omg! We have avocados! We never have avocados! I was about to have a bagel and cream cheese this morning, but then I noticed the avocados and had a bagel with avocado and swiss cheese and turkey and roast beef. Mmmmmmmm. So good. I'm currenly finishing off my jasmine green tea, and I'll make more once that's done. I wish we still had some of that rasberry tea that didn't get bitter. Sadly, I drank most of it, and other people drank the rest,and now it's just jasmine green tea which is nice, you know, but not the same.

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all! Eat good food. Entertain yourselves. And if you're involved, have hot sex. Hell, if you're not, be self-involved, and have hot sex with yourself.

It's all good.

Yes, we spent a while pondering what could theoretically require 99 tracks.

Best. Comment. Ever!

::snickers:: Amen sista!

Says the girl was *is* involved, but still thinks that this is a pointless and stupid holiday. ;)

I like this holiday. It's an excuse to eat chocolate. No excuse to eat chocolate can ever be all bad. *g*

Hi! You don't know me... but. I have a question.

I found a comment you made on a post about vidding about, oh, 10 months ago. You said something about Windows Movie Maker crashing every 5 minutes... is that really true? Is this a quality of the program? Because I've just started making my own vids, and it crashes ALL THE TIME, literally I can barely get one clip done before i have to ctrl alt del the program. So it's not my computer hating me? Please confirm ^_^

From: [identity profile] lierdumoa.livejournal.com
Oh, well, did you make clips? Cause the reason my WMM crashed a lot (I'm fairly certain) is because I didn't make clips, and just imported 25 episodes wholesale into the program and vidded directly from them, rather than going episode by episode, exporting clips from each, and then vidding with those clips.

Your problem sounds like there are other issues at work. Do you have all other programs closed down? How much RAM do you have? I have 512 MB. Are you on Windows XP?

If you can't do anything, then I'd worry. If it crashes a lot, then just save every time you put a clip down and you should at least be able to finish something.

I have 512 MB and am working with Windows XP Pro. This is a laptop that's only about a year and a half old.

Once I noticed the problem I began only using WMM when nothing else was running, literally right after i had restarted the computer. And what I'm vidding from are .AVI files ripped from DVDs, and the longest is about 10 minutes. I select only the scenes I want to use before ripping them. Also, at the moment, I'm only using a movie so it would be impossible to have the whole movie in there, lol.

I had a virus a couple weeks ago but Norton removed it so that's not it... I think my computer might just be too clogged? I might wipe my harddrive at some point and start over from scratch.

.AVI files ripped from DVDs

::wince::

er. yeah. WMM has a tiny tiny brain.

It does not compute.

Quite often, literally.

::hugs:: you might want to convert the .avi into something else, or use an encode that is less unwiedly than your current one. Are you using HuffyYUV or DivX? Strangely, I've found it easier to vid with DivX. or...

OH!! Hey, what you might try is take your .avi clips, stick them into WMM, clip it smaller, and export the file under (NTSC). It'll be a huge file (~5min = ~700Mb), but WMM are usually happy with these files 'cause it made them itself...

Hmm, any suggestions for a program that can change AVI into something easier? And as for err those two options, I really have no idea...i've only heard of DivX, and that was cause I needed the codec to watch vids..

That second idea sounds good, I'll definately try that out.

I'm really new to vidding and I've only just started to get my own source material (I was previously experimenting with other peoples' clips, just for fun) and I tried several different methods before I was able to get these AVI files that actually ran smoothly. Still more steps to go through tho, huh? Lol. Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem,i really appreciate it :)

heh, np ::hugs::

both virtualdub and dvd2avi can convert (both available through google), and though virtualdub is stronger, dvd2avi is easier to use.

Easiest (and with best quality I'm guessing) might just be the WMM method...is that one working out for you?

From: [identity profile] exsequar.livejournal.com
I have virtual dub, that's what i actually use to convert my ripped files TO avi... it can convert avi to other types?

As for the WMM thing... I wasn't sure exactly what you meant... do you basically mean make a video with the AVI file and then save it as a movie, then import that? Because I did try that and it seems like that would work well.

exactly.

As for the other questions, .avi's come in different forms. DivX/HuffyYUV/SonyDV are specific encodes of .avi.

For instance, a horse is a horse is a horse (of course), however, there's different colors and breeds.

exactly.

Okay great, I'll definately try that method and see if it helps the issue at all. Thanks so much :)

Ahh I see... eep. All this technical stuff. I think I'll just try to keep it simple unless I really need to get into the specifics... they're scary >.

I actually did consider that so I did defrag over night about a week ago, didn't make much of a difference though :(
