It is Friday -- and so endeth the most horrible week *ever.*

Let's see...I flunked my calculus test. I flunked my physics test. I'm about two seconds a way from having a royal panic. I'm guessing this is going to be a common thing in my livejournal. Mellow periods punctuated with brief spasms of hysterical stress. Also, my mother is visiting this weekend. I really want to spend time with her, but at the same time, I really want to not flunk out of college. I told her I couldn't do anything with her tonight. We agreed to have breakfast tomorrow.

She told me to call her at 8:00am.

How is it that people fail to understand that 8:00am is an ungodly hour? Especially for a Saturday morning!

Guess what -- this isn't the only reason my week was shitty. No, my week was shitty for practically every reason imaginable. I got very little done, either with my writing or with my homework. Flunkage is imminent. I forgot about a beta job I was supposed to do last week and ended up doing it this week. I discovered that there are indeed things more mentally exhausting than physics and calculus. For example, offering to beta anything written by non-English speaker. I'm an insane grammar/syntax nazi when it comes to betaing. I notice even the tiniest of errors. Well, let me tell you -- when a fic is written by a non-English speaker, the errors are anything but tiny. In addition to that, the fic was non-con. I *hate* non-con. I don't know why I offered to beta it. I was really just asking for pain.

At least it was well-written (grammatical errors nonwithstanding). The characterization was good.

When I sent the beta off to the author, she said she hoped she could work with me again in the future. Heh. Fuck no! Don't get me wrong -- she wasn't a bad writer. It's just that I prefer not to subject myself to slow death. And frankly, slow death is the only way to accurately describe a fic that, despite being only 1500 words long, takes five hours to beta.

One good thing -- I am once again happy with chapters 3 & 4 of Bitter Water. After re-reading my entire fic, I decided that it wasn't nearly as horrible as I'd imagined. Rather, I was being a giant spaz. That was a relief. I did find a few small things which required corrections. I've put the corrections into the lj version of the story, but I have yet to fix the Fiction Alley version. No pressure.

In other knews, [livejournal.com profile] daylight_shadow, you'll be happy to know that Ripe Wicked Plum updated Working Girl. For those of you who don't know, this is a Spike/Buffy fic written for the BtVS fandom. Yeah, that's right folks -- it's het. In fact, the only kind of fic Ripe Wicked Plum writes is het. But it's *good* het.

I wasn't planning on posting tonight - school is driving me mad as well, but after reading your message I just wanted to extend my sympathy and to wish you luck.

I've just withdrawn from two classes myself. For some reason this is turning out to be the term from hell. I've never withdrawn from a class before and I'm feeling very guilty, but I don't want to fail either so there you are ...

Physics and calc - what a combination - thankfully, my calc days are long gone. Despite all the pressures, I hope that you can enjoy some time with your Mum.

Glad you had some good news on the writing front - although I can't seem to write a research paper for love nor money - my latest Severus story is almost complete.

Sending you some good vibes,

Machiavelli (Dorothea)

Thanks for the good vibes. I can't wait to see what you've written. I managed to enjoy some time with my mum. We'll be having lunch together today, too. Thanks for the well-wishing.

Oh, and I can't seem to figure out what the picture is in your icon. Enlighten me?

;o)

That's Machiavelli (the kitten) when he was a couple of months old. He loved hiding out in our package of spring water bottles - I guess you could describe it as being his tree house or fort. He use to swat at everyone (including our huge dog) as we passed by.
