VIDFARRWHEEEEE!!!
Sep. 29th, 2005 11:49 pmSo I've made 2 vids in, like, 10 days. Rough drafts, anyway, and I usually don't take more than a day doing a final draft. Which holy crap means 2 vids in two weeks. I'm like, actually prolific now. Whoa. It must be the learning curve thing. I'm not doing anything new, at least technically. Narratively, these two vids are very different from what I've done before, but there's no real learning curve involved in narrative experimentation. At least, not like there is in technical experimentation. Plus, I'm vidding slow songs.
I'm vidding nonlinearly now. I started both of them somewhere in the middle, then moved out, jumping around a bit. The two vids I just made I can't even really imagine trying to vid from beginning to end, which is weird considering all of my previous vids were made that way. But then, I suppose it's because all of those previous vids were linear narratives that I found vidding them linearly easier.
I really like how the Ray Kowalski vid is turning out. Better than I thought it would, though not as funny. Or, really, it's rueful humor, as opposed to the more slapstick humor I was picturing when I got the idea. I began thinking the vid would be an AU parody and it turned out to be a quirky character study.
OMG I love Ray Kowalski. And he's not who I thought he'd be when I started watching episodes. I guess I was expecting fanon and canon to have more in common. He is a *dork* -- why did no one tell me? I saw the somewhat loserly side of Ray in fic and the snarky bantery side and the OMGHAWT side, but the dorky side got glossed over. Which makes me sad. Because it is my favorite.
Well, in any case, that's the side of Ray I vidded. And it is shiny and happy. And I am shiny and happy for having vidded it.
