I have confirmed what I am doing for next semester. I am staying in the Bay Area, going to the Academy of Art University in SF, majoring in cinema with a concentration in editing. W00t!!!

Long, gruelling argument with parents last night regarding where I was going to be living relative to the university. Or, actually, regarding whether or not they could dictate where I can live since they are supporting me. Basically, I want my life to be my life on my terms, which means I'm going to probably have to find a way to do this whole school thing without them supporting me.

So I called my sister. Because my sister is wise and she understands my parents and she also got cut off from their money when she was in college and she was going to MIT, which is about three times as expensive as the place I'm going to. She's done all this before.

So I will find a way to make this work.

As you can all imagine, I am feeling a lot of stress right now. Stress means therapy. Therapy means mind numbing busywork and staring at pretty things. I have a new LJ layout. Look! See! I like it. It is shiny.The graphic is my favorite shot of Weir (1x19 "The Siege I"). I figured out how to play with levels and curves (in addition to all the other stuff I'd learned earlier like gradients and auto-contrast and color balance and shifting hue and sharpen and layers and opacity, etcetera). Though, really, the most annoying and tedious thing was getting a color scheme that worked with the picture.

Note: I don't actually ship Zelenka/Weir. I like Weir/Ronon and Weir/Caldwell. The fact that Zelenka is in the shot is pure coincidence.

Congrats on school and major. And you can do it on your own terms. Easier to make sacrifices and such when you know it's what you are going to love to do.

And nice layout as well:)

also hell yeah on the "stressed but good"

also, it's Weir/Zelenka not Zelenka/Weir... or Zelenka-pining XD 'cause he's puppy-eyed for her and she's like, "er."

I calmly listened to my dad describe his terms to me and then hung up on him. Some guy hung laminated porn up in the shower stall. The roommate left me a large bar of chocolate and then left for her final, saying I could eat some of her incredibly British comfort food.

Day has been incredibly surreal.

She ONLY HAS EYES FOR ATLANTIS.

::hugs::

I know a teeny bit about loans? I remember looking them up during January 'cause there was the chance that the parentals might not have supported career change so I made sure I was able to do it on my own. I'm not sure if I kept any of the documentation or if they would apply considering that alot of it's school-specific.

::GRINS::

also, it makes me wanna write cyberpunk, where Elizabeth is actually one of the Ancient's AI's that got shuttled away from Atlantis during Before I Sleep, and she'd eventually discovered the SGC and worked her way there, and from there to home.

It would explain why her bedside manner sucks so much.

Speaking of which, I am amused that she mommied Rodney in The Hive sorta like John in Conversion. Except, y'know, she was Bo Kent-ish in her spouting of cliches.

Oh. btw, check your email.

Congratulations on the major and college, it sounds awesome and you'll end up one of the lucky few who love their jobs. :D

It will work out. When I told my dad about my English Lit major -- killing his dream of me becoming an engineer/doctor -- I played the "you want me to be happy" card. The whole moving out thing? It's mostly me saying "I'm doing it. Accept it." There was drama, but not too much.

You're much more assertive than I am, so there should be less drama for you. :) Good luck, lama-poo.

Life in SF

Hey! A long time lurker here but I live in SF. I'm certainly old enough to be your grandmother but I was an art student and still am a painter. If you want to e-mail me (namastenancy@hotmail.com), I can give you tips about the less expensive places to shop, etc. UCSF has a housing website and that might be the best place to start looking for places to stay. I don't know what the Academy offers inthe way of student support but that's a place to start. Good luck!

Mutabililty sequels?

Just a quick question about when you might have the next sequel to Mutability up? It's a great story with an unusual plot line. Your characters' perspectives are actually very realistic. I have enjoyed what you have written so far. I am really looking forward to the next installment! Thanks - Cate
