Fanart

Almost a year ago I read Cordelictus by fabularasa. I was overjoyed to find a writer had come along with not only a great talent for writing, but with the inclination to write for my favorite HP pairing -- Sirius/Severus, and the focus required to actually finish all of her WIP's in a timely manner.

Of course, I had the obvious reaction. I fell into a fit of creativity and made some fanart. At the time, I had access to no image programs more sophisticated than Paint, nor did I have a scanner. I knew I wasn't going to create a masterpiece, but I could to make do. After about an hour using only Paint's pencil function and erase function, I came up with something I considered halfway descent and posted it to the SS/SB yahoo!group.

Since then and now my computer software has improved considerably. Today, with the aid of GIMP (it's like Photoshop only free), I took my old piece of fanart and made it pretty. In the cut tag you'll see a before and after, thanks to (among other things) very liberal use of the smudge function and some shifting around of small portions of the picture.





I know this doesn't really seem to come out of Cordelictus. While the ages of the two characters is debateable in the first drawing, they look like they must be in their teens or early twenties in the second. Oh, well -- I don't really know how to draw middle aged people on the computer -- for that I'd require pencil and paper. This is the best I could do.

Frankly, I still think their heads are too large for their bodies and Sirius looks too feminine and I didn't even come close to doing Sev's hands any justice, but oh well. Tell me what you think.
