Ephram Brown is a teenaged boy and a piano prodigy. His mom died, and his absentee father decided to move the family to Everwood, Colorado (aka that tiny town up in the mountains no one has ever heard of). Ephram hates this move and misses living in New York, where he had friends, popularity, etc. When he moves to Everwood, he finds himself at the bottom rung of the high-school caste system and ends up falling for a popular, pretty girl named Amy. She befriends him, but only because she Ephram's dad is a famous neurosurgeon and Amy's boyfriend (Colin) has been in a coma for over a year due to neural damage in a car accident.
Ephram finds out about Amy's motives, feels all hurt, and angsting occurs. Eventually he tells his dad about Amy's request and his Dad does surgery and Amy gets her boyfriend back -- only Colin has amnesia. Colin ends up befriending Ephram seeing as Ephram is the new kid in town and the only person who doesn't have expectations of him.
Characters you should know: Bright -- Amy's jock brother. He's been known to bully Ephram a little bit, but he's really not that bad. He's a good brother, in any case. Laynie -- Colin's sister. She spends most her time at an all-girl's boarding school, but for a while she visited Everwood and had an almost-romance with Ephram (she was dissappointed to discover that Ephram was still stuck on Amy). Delia -- Ephram's little sister. She's cute, and smart, and small. Dr. Abbot -- Amy & Bright's father, and the town doctor (that is until Ephram's dad walked into town and decided to practice medicine for free). Dr. Abbot and Dr. Brown cannot stand eachother.
