Trip to visit the parents went well. I went shopping with my mom and she bought me two of what I am calling officially the best bras ever. They clasp in the front, cup my bosom perfectly, have no obnoxious padding, and the straps can be rearranged for racerback or halter styles. I got a simple sports bra as well. Also panties and socks. YAY UNDIES.

But now that I am back from the land of the 56K dial-up, and I have pictures to share of the homestead. I grew up in the central valley, CA. "The country." We have a big house and lots of mostly uncultivated land. Some of the neighbors own horses. A couple have barns. They still have yet to run cable lines near the house (hence the dial-up).

Here's the telephone poll on the street in front of our property. Pretty much all the telephone poles on our street have plants like these cropping up around their bases. My mom has them nicknamed "birdshit bush." There used to be a ton of fruit orchards of all kinds around our area before the housing developments started encroaching in on them, so with the birds spreading seed, there's no telling where any of these plants originated from. We had a tree in our backyard and had no idea what it was for years until one day it started fruiting and we found out it was a walnut tree.

Here's the bottom of our driveway at sunset.

Another shot from the driveway. You can see the boxed in rectangle of uncultivated weeds. Twice a year or so my dad takes out the tractor and mows them down.

Here's a shot from the top of the driveway. Some of the older trees like the eucalyptus in the back right were there when we arrived. Aside from that, my dad did most of the landscaping around the house himself.

Back a little further, our driveway forms a roundabout. That's an olive tree there on the right, that came with the house. On the left is the front lawn. The house didn't have any lawns when we first arrived. My dad did all the planting and fertilizing and set up a sprinkler systerm. You can see my shadow as I'm taking the picture in the bottom left corner. I have very puffy hair.

Here you can see the window to my old bedroom. You can see my shadow as I take the picture in the very bottom right.

More of my Dad's landscaping. All the trees you see here my dad planted after he bought the house. There's a line of rosebushes all along the fence. There's a bit of a drought, so the lawn can't be watered as regularly as it should be and parts of it always die off in the summer.

Here's our patio. When I was little I used to climb up that tree onto the wood lattice and then walk up onto the roof. My mom was always terrified I would fall. My dad was always terrified I would break the tile (which he bought himself -- the house originally came with wood shingles).

More roses along the back fence. That's the neighbor's barn across the way.

Here is the first fence I learned to jump. It seemed a lot taller then.

This is the view from just beyond our back yard. It rains all winter and weeds grow in everywhere, lush green. Then the summer comes and they all die giving the clever illusion of amber waves of grain. And since it's pretty, I went ahead and uploaded a larger version.

Again, at sunset. And here's the larger version.

Sunset from the driveway. See larger version.

Sunset again. See larger version.

Wow, gorgeous. Reminds me a bit of my grandmother's place in Bulgaria. They live in this small village off in the mountains. I used to go there a lot when I was younger. And love(d) it.
