I'm home! It's warm outside (and by warm I mean 50* Fahrenheit). The fridges actually have food in them. I can't spend my usual ten hours a day in front of the computer, but without broadband I won't have as much to do on the computer anyway (my house only has dialup -- in fact, it's out of cable range, out in the country where the neighbors have horses).

The plane rides were long and uncomfortable. I got to see Seabiscuit, though, and that was nice. Very charming movie. My second flight was the worst. Two and a half hours of gruesome heat. I don't know why they couldn't lower the temperature. I took off my long sleeved shirt so I was only in my spaghetti strap tanktop, but I still wasn't cool enough, so I started sprinkling some of my bottled water on all exposed skin surfaces. Basically, I looked like a giant weirdo, but I didn't mind too much. The guy I was sitting next to went to my high school. That was interesting. He's a graduate student now studying chemistry. His cousin was in my sister's graduating high school class. We had a firly interesting conversation there on the plane.

I was supposed to be working on BW in the plane, but that plan went bust when I realized I forgot to bring a pen and I was too tired to write anyway. I did, however, manage to develop a giant plotbunny involving Roxie/Velma femslash for the movie Chicago. Well, perhaps that's not the correct term for it, since the idea I got was basically for a PWP. I'm going to post that sometime today. It won't stop haunting me unless I write it soon.

Hmmm...femslash. I've never actually written any femslash before. Of course, knowing me, I'd break out in style by making my first femslash piece as chock full of hardcore sex as possible. I don't know anyone who'd want to beta this for me, so it's getting posted unbetaed.

I suppose it's just that Chicago contains the first ever femslash pairing that actually holds appeal for me. I like volatile relationships. Amy/Laynie (Everwood) -- not volatile. Chloe/Lana (Smallville) -- Chole is somewhat volatile all on her own, but Lana is just so...tame. Roxie/Velma? Oh God, they hate each other with such vitriol! And they spend all their time in skimpy clothes. Beautiful half naked women who hate each other but can't escape eachother -- this screams femslash PWP like nothing else I've ever seen. I just think it's strange that I haven't seen anyone else try to write a PWP for this pairing.

Oh, speaking of which -- if anyone on my friends list knows of a place to find/post good Chicago fic, please point me. Fic reccs are also welcome.

But I digress. As I was saying -- I know that most fanfiction writers are straight women (me included, or perhaps bi-questioning would be more accurate, but I hate labels). But come on. I've seen plenty of CLex (Clark/Lex) writers do Chloe/Lana -- why not try out a femslash pairing that's actually interesting? Leave the safe haven of your usual fandom once in a while. Other fandom's deserve good writing too.

Meh.

Right now I'm back in my old habit of writing in livejournal, drinking tea, and listening to MTV2 in the background. I never listen to the radio, and the tv's at my college don't have MTV2, so this is the first time in a long time I get to hear new music. And the lead singer of Puddle of Mudd? So needs to marry me.

Below is a list of songs I'm going to download as soon as I'm back with my broadband connection. The list will get longer as the week progresses.

"I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by the Darkness
"Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet
"Hit That" by the Offspring
everything on the new Kelis CD
"I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace
"Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne
"Suga, Suga" by Baby Bash ft. Frankie J
lots of Evanesence (I probably misspelled that)
"O Viridissima" by Anuna

Haha--I actually made a comment to my mom about how great it was that there was food in the fridge. It's a nice change!

Find out about grades yet?
