So...

I cashed in my sister's IOU. I had her buy me Firefly the series. Now I'll finally know what all the fuss is about. As soon as my dad stops watching football on the only tv with a DVD player. Also, I got my mom to buy me a Tori Amos collection. I'd have rather bought Choirgirl Hotel or Under the Pink than a compilation CD, but I couldn't find them and was too lazy to do any serious looking.

So I went shopping with my sister, mother, and uncle (my favorite uncle -- he's a translator who lives in Belgium). We went to Barnes and Noble (where I got my CD and DVD set). Afterwards we went to a store with things like lamps and kitchen ware and other household tidbits. I was horribly amused when my uncle found these odd devices to place around the rims of drinking glasses. I didn't find out what their actual purpose was. I was too busy being terribly amused by their name. They were called rimmers. This wouldn't have been all that funny except my uncle got this very pinched look on his face and said "Rimmers -- what a disgusting name." He sounded just like a snooty old lady.

Okay, enough with the eighth grade humor.

So spending a week or so at home has reminded me why I decided to move to the other end of the country for college. I grew up in a very boring town. I've never had a very good relationship with my parents, and it certainly hasn't improved over the years. Honestly, I can't much stand it here. I missed my friends from high school, so I'm really glad to be seeing them, but aside from that, I'm really glad to be going back to college soon. There I have peace and quiet (at least until the new semester starts and I am once again bogged down with a full classload). And you know what? I miss being able to go down the hall and have an intelligent conversation with someone who doesn't talk down to me. I miss being able to walk to the movie theater. Everything in my hometown is a fifteen minute drive away. I miss living in a city where they stop running movies at midnight, as opposed to eight o'clock in the evening. I miss my computer. A lot. All of my best toys are on it.

And I really hate not having AIM. Really, really.

Oh yeah. And I bought the Kelis CD. That's getting scratched of my "songs I need to download once I get back to college" list. My sister bought the new OutKast CD, and I'm going to burn that off of her. It's so nice to hear new music. I really ought to listen to the radio more. Of course, I do that here because there's rarely anything better to do.

Meh.

I've been wondering where you are... Haven't been able to check the LJ much.

*ducks* Don't hurt me!!

But I do feel for you though. I can't say I miss my college life - since I've been at home the entire time. ^_^

Well, just want to say "Hi!" *waves* and I'll miss you when I don't see you on AIM.

I assumed that you hadn't been on livejournal much. For future reference, know that I talk about myself in my livejournal. So if something is going on and you can't reach me with AIM, you should check my livejournal. You know, the one I talk about myself all the time in.

Okay, I think I used up my daily allotment of sarcasm.

And Firefly is so bomb! *loves* I can't believe they cancelled this show. Another Joss Whedon production. And I actually like all the characters. As opposed to Buffy. In which I liked two, tolerated most, and hated some. I'll probably make a whole post on the show once I finish watching it. I have four episodes to go.

Well, you see, I don't have lots of online time. So it's turn on AIM, check e-mail, download fics and get my ass offline.

Not much time for LJ, and I do try to keep up, but RL is just a bitch and so's Charter cable.

Not everyone can be as hardcore as you with LJ.

Never seen Firefly, but now I'm curious...

Dude -- I'm well aware you have little internet time. I don't expect you to suddenly become hardcore and spend significant time browsing lj. That's not even remotely close to what I meant. But if you want to know what was going on with me, two minutes of skimming through a few of my recent entries would alert you to anything major. Like a personal newspaper.

So chill. I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you. You don't need to justify yourself to me. And I fully support all your endeavors in RL -- partially because your boy troubles are terribly entertaining to read about.

And Firefly is bomb. If it hadn't been cancelled after the first fourteen episodes, it could have been better than Buffy. In my humble opinion.

Yeah, I know. But it's just hard to tell when you're just reading it.

*wry grin* Thanks, I'm glad I could provide some entertainment.

I'm assuming you already read the post about Froggy?

As for Firefly, was it on FOX or WB? If it's FOX, then I think I've seen an episode of it or two...

I did. I read all your posts. As I do everyone on my friends list.

Firefly was FOX.
