I have a deep thought. Sometimes I think that perhaps everything is preordained. I mean, I'm not sure I believe that, but I do think it's possible. I ponder this in the same way I wonder whether or not God exists, by which I mean that if there is a God or not, I don't particularly care, and I'll keep doing I do. You know what I think is weird, though? That people actually lose sleep over things like this.

bonibaru put up link to an article about fanfiction writers -- "Fanfic: is it right to write?" It's objective and informative, I thought. Also, cjandre posted in her journal that the Harry Potter people have started up an effort to commercialize on fanfiction. Frankly, I think it's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life. But it does make for an interesting read, so I'll go ahead and link to that too: Product: Fanlib (don't forget to read the comments).

In other news, queenofalostart got me addicted to LOTRPS. maiaj, you're not helping. Queen promised she'd e-mail me a giant reccs list -- I'm quite looking forward to that. One particular must read is "In Which Billy Boyd Says Stuff" by inbetweens. Rating, I'd say hard R. Completely hilarious. And also hot. Billy reads the phone book (mmmm...Scottish accent), and everyone has fun at Elijah's expense. I'm a bit fixated on that man's mouth (Billy's I mean) , so this fic was especially lovely for me.

And while I'm reccing fics, Marag put up "The Fantasy" on SSA. CLex, of course. Lots of porn and shmoop, in that order. Good dialogue. Worth a look. Plummie (ripewickedplum.com) put up a new Xander/Spike fic -- her first slash fic. It was cute enough, I suppose, although I like her Buffy/Spike fic better. In fact, I'm thinking of re-reading "Defective #9" -- very good retake on "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" (s2ep16) in which Spike, instead of Xander, mucks up a spell that has everybody madly in love with him except the one person he wants -- Buffy. Happy ending. Well written sex scenes. Great characterization. The same quality as all of Plummie's fic, and this one she actually finished.

Also, someone said something in their lj about how Adina does not have a big ass, which led me to rewatch parts of Sorority Boys (a movie I downloaded and watched for the sole purpose of better understanding Smallville/Sorority Boys crossover fic). No, Adina does not have a big ass, though I think they could have done without the hip inserts. Am I the only one who noticed that they gave Michael Rosenbaum fake hips during his Adina scenes? Well, anyway, as I skimming over various scenes in the movie I came across the one where Adina wakes up with morning wood (and then the alarm clock goes off and that other guy smashes it with a handy chair). I sat and pondered as to whether or not it was an actual erection they were filming. And then I decided I was overthinking this. A lot. So I stopped.

And then I rewatched some of my favorites scenes from Once Upon a Time in Mexico. You know that scene at the end where Johnny Depp shoots those two guys who are standing on the stairs? I'm fairly certain the second one screams after he gets shot. In the head. Bad stage direction or editing or what? God I love that movie, though. Agent Sands? Hotness.

I'm happy to take the blame for pushing my habits on other people - though I don't feel like I've done much to take any credit this time!
