So I was chatting with Miss Windy (recently departed from lj -- the lovely woman who started the
bus_riders community). She wrote a short Ephram/Madison, with strong hints of Ephram/Bright fic. She seems to not have gotten much feedback for it, which the way I see it, is, like, *wrong.* Cause it's like, *good,* yo! Read it if you like Madison. But especially read it if you hate her. Either way.
Also? Short. Won't take up too much of your time.

Also, I forgot to mention one of the LOTRPS that
queenofalostart recced to me the other day. Memento by
blythely. Follow the link at the bottom of the page to get to the rest of the story. It was just...holy shit! Like one of those "my brain just trickled out my ear" fics. It's so poetic and deep and it's so, so hot! On the surface we see Viggo and Dom and naughty photography. Below that there's delicate relationship dynamics and vulnerability and privacy boundaries and love that isn't simple. Nothing about this fic is simple. Just read it. Yeah. Do that.
Okay, yeah. So, as I was saying, I was chatting with Miss Windy. She pimped my Everwood fic on her reccs page -- which led me to about a half hour's worth of gleeful giggling somewhere along the lines of "A BNF pimped my fic! A BNF pimped my fic!" Y'all should check out her reccs page (and I'm not just self-pimping here") -- there's a wide variety of good stuff to check out: Go See!
So we got to talking about CLex, a pairing which I have always sort of wanted to write for but never have. I suppose it's quite possible I've been discouraged by the huge amount of goodfic to be found in that fandom. I feel a bit outclassed, you know? Also, pretty much all the usual plotbunnies have been done about 30 times each. I'd have to come up with a *really* unique idea for a *really* long fic if I wanted to get any feedback on it at all. So although I've read an absolutely *obscene* amount of CLex, I've never actually written anything for the Smallville fandom beyond the rare, quickly jotted down plotbunny.
We also got to discussing Snape, as I think it was me who steered the conversation towards the Harry Potter fandom and my own Harry Potter fic. She pointed out that she couldn't like Snape because of his awful treatment of children. Now I know a lot of Snape fans who say that he was abused and to have some sympathy for him. Frankly, I think that's bullshit. Snape's an asshole. No apologies. No excuses. He's just an asshole.
But he's *my* asshole.
Hee! Also, our conversation included a funny tangent having to do with Everwood's Madison -- who Miss Windy also doesn't like. And truthfully, I can see why. She's a Mary Sue, plain and simple. I think the reason I like her is because she's the first female character on the show to acknowledge that Ephram is gorgeous and edible. Of course, most everyone agrees that the Ephram/Madison relationship will end in disaster. I'm a little sad about this, but not really. The way I see it, when all is said and done, Ephram will still get a happy ending. No matter how badly the relationship ends, Ephram will still get a happy ending. And that's really all I care about. You see, no matter how badly the relationship ends, he'll still be able to say, "When I was sixteen I scored with a chick who was not only annoyingly perfect in every way, but also four years my senior. Because I AM SEX."
Nuff said.
;o)
One last note: My River/Jayne fic is progressing painfully slowly. Painfully. It only needs to be 1000 words or so. Why is it being so difficult?!? *aaargh!* Not to mention that if I don't have the next chapter to BW written by the end of the week, I'm going to commit seppuku by way of frisbee, I swear to God.
