According to [livejournal.com profile] wyoluvr, today is Pointless Drabble Writing Day.

Well, I hadn't yet written anything for The OC. And since nobody would write me any Julie/Luke fic (you all suck, by the way), I used this opportunity to write some for myself. Two drabbles. Exactly 100 words each. They're probably not as pointless as they should be, but whatever. Crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] pointless100 (see post).

Entitlement

Luke always thought of Marissa's mom as Mrs. Cooper. And it wasn't because he still thought of her as his girlfriend’s mom. She didn’t strike him as a ‘mother,’ or ‘wife.’ Mrs. Cooper wasn't a title for Luke -- at least, not anymore. It was a nickname. A regular endearment.

He knew calling her that made her feel weird, guilty even, for opening her door and her thighs to him. So he tried to adjust to her given name. But whether it was murmured under his breath or screamed out during orgasm, the word Julie always tasted wrong in his mouth.

Ultimatum

When Luke walks Marissa home from their first date, her mother is waiting at the doorstep.

Luke offers a greeting, which Mrs. Cooper ignores. "Marissa, honey, go inside. I need to speak with Luke."

Luke smiles angelically. "Mrs. Cooper?"

She waits until Marissa leaves before addressing him. "Be careful with her," she says, "or you’ll answer to me."

"Yes ma’am," he replies, though he doesn’t feel very intimidated.

She tucks a strand of hair behind the delicate shell of her earlobe. Luke realizes she isn’t motherly enough to be intimidating. She’s too pretty.

She's the prettiest girl he's ever seen.

"...we played ultimatum, you know -- who of all your friends' moms would you rather sleep with?"
~ The OC ep. 1.19

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] weirdqafan for helping me track down the songs I asked for.

Hee!

I especially loved the second one. Everytime they're on the screen, I think 'This is unnatural and not of the lord and I love it anyway.'

They're so fucking funny together. 'And Luke, this is a booty call.' *g*

Dude! I <333 them. They are my favorite network television couple.

I swear, every time I watch the OC I start to tear up saying, "It's like...It's like they wrote this episode just for *me*." I just sob at the beauty of it all.

Okay, that's somewhat melodramatic of me, but then consider that we're watching a soap opera disguised as a drama.

And oh man, when she tells Luke it's over and he's all "that's fine" and he looks so *crushed.*

I love Sethummer as well. And Ryan/Theresa. I love that Marissa is alone, because OMG what a stupid bitch. I love all the adults.

I mean, I've always been a rabid slasher, but I swear, this show has completely rekindled my love of het. I'm glad I didn't get sucked into Ryan/Seth, or I wouldn't be enjoying Seth and Ryan's love interests nearly as much as I am.
