I love my show. Did I mention that I love my show? I love my show.
So, this last monday...
Remember that whole non-date thing that went on twice with Ryan and his two different non-girlfriends last week? Good stuff, no? So he tells Seth that he kissed Theresa (whoo!) and Seth runs him through an inquisition. He comes up with some disturbing kiss analogies as well. And Ryan's like, "Uh, okay, you're scaring me. A lot." And at this perfectly inopportune time, Theresa comes by to drive them to school. Marissa comes in moments later to offer the same. Awkward Theresa/Marissa moment.
So Sandy and Kirsten are in the kitchen. Kirsten announces that her dad has been declared business man of the year, or some such. Marissa and Theresa walk through the kitchen and say short goodbyes. Seth and Ryan come in. Sandy and Kirsten ask what is going on. Seth starts answering all their questions until it finally registers to him that Ryan has is "shut the fuck up" look on his face. Once Ryan tell them that Theresa is apparently not leaving anytime soon, the parents start to run him through an inquisition similar to that given by seth. Aw, so they are all related. It's very cute, I tell you. Very cute.
So, yeah. Due to a small instance of Marissa being extremely bitchy to Theresa (and immediately apologizing, of course, before a real argument can break out), Kirsten has to drop her boys off to school. Bummer. Once school starts, Marissa goes up to Luke, who is playing guitar and looking as surferish as one can look without actually wearing a swimsuit or being at the beach. She asks him if it hurt him to see her and Ryan together after he and she broke up. He says, "The sooner you realize that it's never gonna go back to the way it was, the sooner you can move on." Like I did. Your mom is hhhhhot! Marissa, happily oblivious to all the unspoken words, goes up to walk a bit with Ryan. I don't know what's going on in her head. I won't try to analyze.
And then it's Seth, Anna, and Summer, the happy threesome, chatting away. Summer is delightfully shallow. Delightfully so because she's smart enough to be aware that she is shallow. <3 Anna announces that she's leaving. She's kind of all abrupt about it. Seth is all like, WTF NO! What?! No! Only not yelling, as my all caps may have implied.
Then we have Ryan sitting with Theresa in her car as she looks through a newspaper for job opportunities. She's all unemployed, poor girl. She holds up the newspaper and they kiss behind it. And
lierdumoa screams at the cuteness of it all. Ryan watches her drive away with this vaguely worried look on his face.
So then...Luke drops by Julie's house. Julie's daughter, Caitlin (sp?) -- the younger one -- answers the door. Caitlin is very happy to see Luke. Apparently she has a crush. So all the Cooper women are attracted to him. Fun stuff. Caitlin gets all annoyed when her mom walks up to interrupt her conversation with Luke. Julie shoos her daughter away. She then basically tells Luke, "I don't think you're getting the concept of discretion." Luke is like, "Wha? I only came by to set up your DSL!" And Julie's ex husband walks up. Says hi to Luke. Julie does a fast, "He's here to defrag my harddrive" cover. Her ex husband (I assume he's there to see his daughter) -- fuck, what is his name? I am totally drawing a blank -- is all, "Ooooo...kay."
So then it's back to the Cohen residence. Sandy is talking to Ryan. Basically saying, "The Theresa situation is all fucked up. No future there. Be realistic. You're cute, but be realistic." Then it's back to Kirsten and her dad (Caleb) chatting in the kitchen and beginning to set up for the big party that's being thrown for him being proclaimed man of the year. Kirsten walks out. Sandy walks in. He tells Caleb -- I'll help out with your shady contact guy, but first you have to tell Kirsten everything.
After this, Ryan goes by to visit Theresa. She tells him she's staying in the OC for a while. Ryan is like, "Great!" when in his head he's thinking the same thing, only in a much more sarcastic tone. He goes back to tell Seth the news. Seth tells him about Anna. It's a somewhat amusing/depressing conversation. Good stuff.
So then Caleb sits Kirsten down and has the big talk with her. Tells her everything, as Sandy demanded. Including the fact that she's implicated, having paid this man his paycheck for years.
Scene change! Ryan's in the school library studying. Marissa walks up to say a tentative, "Hi." Eddie storms in and confronts Ryan. He asks Ryan if he's sleeping with Theresa. Ryan says no. He does some threat stuff. No violence. He storms back out. Ryan has the, "Well, shit," look on his face. Poor Ryanwoobie. Marissa looks on. Still don't know what's going on in her head. Then it's Seth talking to Anna, trying to find out if she's leaving because of him. Namely, his big love proclamation that he made to Summer during last week's ep. Anna tells him her reasons, not once mentioning the Summer thing, but Seth isn't convinced.
Then it's Ryan, walking. Marissa comes up. Basically it seems like she's trying to involve herself in his life any way she can. He's like, "Why would you do that to yourself." She looks all hurt and...hurt. Yeah. Ryan does some placatey stuff.
Switch to Sandy and Kirsten talking. She just can't believe she's only finding out now. Upsetting. And she still has to throw that party. Man, is she pissed at daddy. And then it's over to Summer and Seth making out. Seth is too upset about Anna to be really into the makeout session. Summer tries to brush the thing off. Seth won't let it be brushed off. Summer's a little hurt, but she understands, mostly.
So Ryan goes to visit Theresa again. Basically saying, I can't get you a job or take care of you or what. Theresa is like, I don't need you to take care of me. I just like you. There is much making out. on Theresa's bed. Niiiiice. We pan out to see...Eddie sitting in a car outside the hotel. So now he thinks Ryan lied. No, really! They were't sleeping together! Before...
Morning comes. Ryan wakes up all naked and hot looking. Mmmmmm. In all his bare chested goodness. So, yeah, let's take a wild guess and assume sex took place here. Whoo! Ryan bids Theresa goodbye with a kiss.
Over to...Sandy at the driving range, talking to a guy from work. The guy suspects that Sandy is about to compromise some moral principles trying to get Caleb's guy off. Well, yeah. He doesn't want to. But this is his wife, and you do shit like that for your family.
So Seth goes up to Ryan and asks him about the whole Theresa thing. Then it's over to the Anna issue, and Ryan is all, just be honest and tell her you want her to stay. Seth throws out the phrase "Veritas in vino." Truth in wine. Seth and the champagne will be having fun at grandad's party.
Meanwhile, Marissa decides to do the friend thing -- I think she really does like Theresa, at least a bit, but I also thing part of it is staying close to Ryan. Anyway, She invites Theresa to the party and lends her clothes. Wait -- Marissa has clothes that would fit Theresa? Here I thought her clothes only fit store mannequins and stick people.
Over too...the Cohen's party. Sandy's doing work stuff with the case on the phone. Kirsten is having trouble smiling for photos. Summer is telling Ryan -- "Coop (her nickname for Marissa Cooper) really does love you." Ryan's like, "Yeah, I know, but..." And then of course Theresa shows up with Marissa. It's slightly uncomfortable. Seth takes a few pictures with his grandad and then goes off to find the champagne. Anna shows up, bids her goodbyes to Summer, and finds herself unable to talk to Seth, so just drops off a letter to him. She hugs Ryan goodbye. She's still wearing fugly clothes, and has been all episode, but her makeup looks great.
Juke moment! [Juke -- TM
misswindy, I think] Luke walks up to Julie and tell her how hot her ass looks. Ex hubby (still drawing a blank on his name) looks at Julie suspiciously. Over to Sandy talking with Caleb. Basically -- everything's going to work out. Sandy is guilt ridden. Kirsten is *hating* her father right now. Back to Julie. Her ex is all, "WTF are you thinking? Now, really." She's all, "I don't know what you're talking about." He's all, "This could destroy Marissa."
And then...Eddie shows up! He starts a fight with Ryan. A big ole knockdown fight. Tables collapse (don't they always? they must get super collapsable tables for this show). Ryan is thrown in the pool. Theresa is all embarrassed. She doesn't know that these kind of fights break out every other party over here in the OC. Ryan gives Seth Anna's letter afterwards, but the ink is all runny because of him falling in the pool. Summer is like, "Just let her go. Seth can't though. But he assures her that it's not a romantic thing. And she get's that it isn't -- at least not for the *most* part. So she's mostly okay with it.
Caleb walks up to Julie. He wants to get back together with her. This time he says he'll respect her better. She tells him she'll consider taking him back.
Over to...Ryan driving Seth to the airport to catch Anna. He's driving because Seth had too much champagne and cannot take his liquor. Seth is complaining about everything to do with the car (the AC is making his hair look like Screech -- Saved by the Bell references now?), Ryan's driving, the music. And Ryan stops him right there. "do not insult Journey, alright?"
Okay, hold up. Ryan has taste in music? Ryan likes 80's music? Okay, I'm sorry, but he so needs to marry me right. The fuck. Now.
Where was I? Theresa gives Marissa back her dress. She's going back to Chino. Back to Eddie. Without saying goodbye. Kirsten talks to Sandy. She's sorry he's having to compromise his principles, but that's life. Seth shows up at the airport and talks to Anna. He thinks she said in her letter that she loved him (the "as a friend" part got all smudged). Well, Anna leaves, tearfully,, and oh God she looks beautiful and sad. It's, like, the best goodbye scene ever. I liked her character more in this scene than any scene prior. She was just lovely. I really do think her acting has improved. And Seth is all, "Anna, wait a second. What am I gonna do without you? Who am I gonna play jenga with? You're so wise in all your sage wisdom. What am I gonna do without that?"
"Confidence, Cohen."
It was one of the first things she said to him the first episode she showed up in. Oh, my God I am so close to crying. They're playing "If You Leave" -- the 80's song, only it's a cover version by Nada Surf. I love Nada Surf! Dude, this show has really good music. Like, really. Good music. Love it. Always perfect for whatever moment(s) it's representing, even when I may not actually like the song. Beautiful.
Ryan goes over to Theresa's hotel and finds her gone. Seth and Ryan end up chatting at the end. Ryan doesn't have anyone now. He's all, "I could hang out with Luke. Dont' think he's doing anything." See me giggling like a mad thing. Oh, if only Ryan knew.
*snerk*
*Love* my show. That's all.
Oh! New icon, too. Made it yesterday, along with my Dennis Miller rant icon.

Date: 2004-03-06 05:34 am (UTC)I am so loving this show. Usually there's a character that I hate, or a pairing that makes me cringe, but it's all good here. But my favs are still Julie and Luke, or Juke as you called them. LOL.
I was doing some major swooning when Luke was hanging over Julie's shoulder telling her how hot her ass was! The ex caught it all too. Hee! (BTW, think his name is Jimmy?)
Is it Monday yet?
