So I'm back at my co-op, and have returned to being antisocial w/ the computer. I got left for home on Wednesday and returned to otherhome last night.

What am I forgetting? Oh yeah. I almost died on Wednesday night. Basically, I left with my cousins to drive home (they're my cousins though technically old enough to be my parents but they still feel more like cousins than parents, probably cause they have no kids and spend all their free time watching tv). So it's incredibly dark out in the country where my old house is. We get lost a couple of times because I have trouble recognizing the landscape seeing as their used to be miles of fig orchards out there and now they've all been taken down to put in more housing.

Basically, we get turned around, my cousin (by marriage) Steve, who is married to my cousin (by blood) Michelle starts to drive off when he says, "Wait. Something's wrong here. This road is one way." He yanks the stearing wheel sideways and drives up onto the island in the middle of the street just as about five cars zoom by. Michelle's in kind of a panic at this point and yelling about how it's dangerous to drive so fast up such a difference in height (the island deviding north bound from south bound was about half a foot up off the ground). My cousin Steve is yelling back at her, "Did you want to be in a five car collision?"

So we drive back off the island onto the right side of the street. Eventually the both of them calm down. I take the lull in conversation as an opportunity to say, "Let's not tell my parents this happened. My mother will have a heart attack on the spot."

Then there was rediscovery of old DVD's that my mom never mailed, e-mail checking, sleep, breakfast, and Thanksgiving dinner, which consisted of (oddly enough) goose, salmon, stuffing, some vegetable dishes, some fried plantain, and one or two foods I only know the Trinidadian slang for so won't bother mentioning here. It's kinda annoying having parents from another country. I mean...cranberry sauce. Anyway, the food was very good, as was dessert (vanilla ice cream and homemade pecan pie).

Two Step Plan for Christmas Happiness

Step One

Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered, whichever you're comfortable with) to your journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all -- something simple and practical for the medium (fanfiction, journal layout, icon, etc.); to medium-sized (DVD, CD, a smallish physical gift around ten or twenty dollars); or something large (computer, television ... angsty bishounen). The important thing is to make sure that these wishes are all things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fanfiction or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your entry, whether it's your address or just your e-mail address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, or link to this post so that the holiday joy can spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friends list (or friend's friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. Now, here's the important part.

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure -- if you have something you don't want that someone else does, something you won't use, or know where you can get something they want.

You don't need to spend any money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to give everyone the chance to be someone else's holiday elf and spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously (Secret Santa) or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just wish and it might come true -- give and you might receive. And you will come away with the feeling of having made someone's holiday special.

!!!

Dude, this fandom has so much goodfic.

Okay, if you're looking for just good porn you should check out [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone's Almost series (read here (http://www.geocities.com/coffeeslash/bone/fastfurious/almost/index.html)).

If you're looking for good fic that happens to include porn, check out all of [livejournal.com profile] khaleesian's fic. My favorite is Repo Men pt. I (http://www.khaleesian.com/fast%20and%20furious/Repo%20Men.htm) & II (http://www.khaleesian.com/fast%20and%20furious/Repo%20Men%20II.htm), which is a crossover w/ Fastlane, but you totally don't need to know anything about Fastlane to read it. The rest of [livejournal.com profile] khaleesian's TF&TF fic is here (http://www.khaleesian.com/fast%20and%20furious/nasty-curious.htm) and it is all fantastic.

[livejournal.com profile] maygra wrote an incredibly long fic with incredibly long sequels, all worth reading. Read that here (http://assignations.org/maygra/speed/unfinished.html).

[livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r has some fantastic TF&TF fic here (http://www.drizzle.com/~gwyneth/). Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Everything I recced here is NC-17. Enjoy!

Also, you can check out [livejournal.com profile] quarter_mile for new crap. All the authors I mentioned here are members of that community, as well as others. It's a new community, though, so there's not much on it yet.
