5 Reasons I am a dork
I discovered this meme a few weeks ago. I was going to go with regular fannish reasons, but thought that would be boring because you all already know all those reasons, so didn't post this at the time. Then I came up with much better reasons, all dating back before I became a fan.
1. In first grade my teacher sent a note home telling my parents to check my hearing, because I might be deaf. Whilst trying very, very hard not to laugh, my mother and father gave me a stern talking to about how I really shouldn't ignore my teacher when she called on me in class.
2. Again, in first grade. I would never shut up in class, until the teacher threatened to put me in the regular reading group. I was absolutely terrified of having to sit and listen to all the slow readers. OMG pain.
3. In 8th grade I wrote a love poem. I then felt the need to write it in code. I made a very simple code of A=Z, B=Y, C=X, etc. I converted other of my poems to code. For the month or so I was doing this, I got to the point where I could write in the code as easily as I could write regularly.
4. After hearing the song during a scene in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, I downloaded Kyu Sakamoto's "Sukiyaki" off napster and learned the lyrics phonetically. I can remember some of the lyrics as being, "Oo-ay oh moo'oo ii / Ah du como'oh/ Nigi dn'da / Oh shi-ho / Caht'so heh heh heh te / Como eeh taht su / Hah leu coo / Shitori po po chi noyoru / Kanashimiwa oh shi ho-oo'emii / Kanashimiwa sora no kagenii" Some of that's probably out of order or just plain wrong considering I still have no idea what any of it means.
5. I bought five of those Years Best Fantasy & Horror anthologies after discovering that a few of the short stories had hot sex scenes, some of which were gay.
