After gorging on Jensen Ackles for the past weekend and watching all his Dark Angel episodes, and getting just a leeeeetle bit obsessed with his character, I think I might have to try writing a crossover.
Alec (aka X5-494) -- played by Jensen Ackles, genetically engineered government soldier (Manticore program), can move rilly fast and is rilly strong, though is frequently beaten up by similarly genetically superpowered women and/or incapacitated by tasers. Is a piano savant, and became technically perfect at reading music within a day. Has deep, *deep* angst because the government used him as an assassin and he ended up inadvertently killing his first love, and the girl who quite probably took his virginity.
Dean Forester -- played by Jared Padalecki, giant w00bie with chestnut hair, or so wikipedia tells me. I think I may actually have to watch episodes of Gilmore Girls -- at least enough to get a handle on his character. Thankfully I don't need to know too much about canon since I'm putting it in the Dark Angel verse wherein there was a kind of mini-apocalypse right around the time he'd have been twelve.
Basic outline. Blah, blah, apocalypse. Dean and his family stay in Chicago, and it is Rory's family who ends up moving to Chicago for business reasons. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, so Dean ends up being, like, their delivery boy or something. Blah, blah, relationship angst (even moreso now that the difference between the haves and the have nots is that much greater), of course Dean and Rory grow apart after their torrid teenaged relationship.
Alec is assigned to investigate big wigs in the chicago area. It seems like a one week deal, max. He decides to cut himself a break, goes out to a bar. He is more hardened and worldly wise than he was his first deep cover mission, enough to know not to fall for his marks. Stick to strangers. Notices he is *totally being cruised* and, this not being a gay bar, this is unusual. Sees the most beautiful, tragic, maudlin young man he's ever seen. Dean, he finds out, is kind of hung up on his ex and has virtually no experience with guys because he thought Rory was the love of his life and all and didn't exactly go looking much further than that.
Alec thinks to himself -- mmmm, I can totally debauch this one. They have a night of beautiful, heart stopping sex. Alec ends up spending the night when he totally didn't mean to, but the guy just clings so well. He manages to untangle himself in the morning and tell Dean he has to go and he won't be seeing him again.
Three weeks later, Manticore tells Alec that he needs to go back and investigate more, and this time he might be there for months. Dean hasn't been able to stop thinking about him, of course. When Alec returns, Dean finds him, this time while delivering produce or whatever to the bigwig Alec is investigating. He finds out Alec might be there for a few months, and wants to get together with him again. Alec tries to explain to him the concept of a one night stand. Dean gives puppy eyes. Alec runs.
Alec has angsty moment because this is the first time he's started to get attached to someone since he got burned really badly that one time he inadvertently killed his first love. Of course, when he is feeling particularly angsty, he finds a piano and pounds away at it. This time the piano is at some auditorium that there's goign to be a big fancy dinner at the next night, and Dean again is there helping set up the food or whatever. He finds Alec when Alec is all emotional and vulnerable and making beautiful, beautiful music. Alec pulls his lost love's locket out of his backpocket and stares at it angstily when Dean clears his throat loudly and lets Alec know he's been watching him play. He asks about the Locket.
Alec says somethign cryptic about people who get close to him getting hurt. Dean ignores him in favor of kissing him. They have beautiful, heartstopping sex across the piano bench.
They start having a very secretive relationship. Alec doesn't want Manticore to know anything about Dean, or Dean to know anything about Manticore. There's a giant, angsty fight because Dean just wants Alec to tell him the truth and Alec doesn't think Dean can handle the truth (I like my melodrama, sue me). Alec doesn't see Dean for a couple of weeks.
Of course, this is also around the time that Manticore tells Alec it's time to kill people. Alec goes and kills people. He's doing cleanup when Dean finds him. Alec points a gun at him. His gun wavers in the air for a few seconds before he drops it. Does the whole, "If you tell anyone what you saw here, you'll end up dead."
Dean is of course, all, "Who are you?"
Alec breaks and spills everything. Dean is horrified. Dean is about to stumble out the door when Alec catches him by the arm. Alec makes him promise he won't tell anyone, which Dean is of course convinced is because Alec is trying to save his own ass and has been a giant liar the whole time, when really Alec just doesn't want Manticore going after Dean for knowing too much.
A couple years later, Alec is working at Jam Pony. Say, midway through season 2 Dark Angel, Alec just got his apartment from Brainiac. Dean comes in looking for a job. Alec drags him outside and wants to know how the fuck Dean found him. Dean heard rumors of Manticore going down and mutants in the area. Dean just had to try to see him again. Puppy eyes. Alec sighs in exhasperation, then goes ahead and recommends that Normal hire him.
Dean scuffles his feet and looks all sheepish and maybe a little coy and mentions that he doesn't actually, like, have a place to stay. Alec drops him off at his apartment after work, tells him to make himself at home, but that there's not going to be any repeat of what happened between them before. Dean nods and smiles and then kind of crawls up Alec's body and shuts him up with tongue. More beautiful, heartstopping sex. Dean falls asleep with his head in Alec's lap and Alec combing fingers through his hair, then Alec is like, "I have finally gone off the deep end," and goes to Crash to get really, really drunk.
Max is of course curious about the new guy. Alec mumbles something about an old friend and it being none of her business. Max decides not to push, and instead extends an olive branch and says she's goign to go visit Joshua and Alec should come.
They go visit. Max tells Joshua about Alec and his mysterious friend from the past who showed up at work today. Alec scowls at her. Joshua starts giggling, nudges Alec with is elbow, says, "So Alec and new guy gettin' busy." Alec blushes furiously realizing that, oh yeah, he went to Crash without showering and Joshua must totally be able to smell the sex on him. Max's eyebrows raise so much they nearly fly off her face. Alec flees the scene. Max yells after him to bring him to crash tomorrow night.
Alec goes home, lies down next to Dean. Dean wakes up, they make out. Alec buries his face in Dean's neck and mumbles something about introducing Dean to the family. Dean asks if they're going to question his intentions.
Uhm. That's it, I think.

Date: 2006-05-02 10:24 pm (UTC)As for Gilmore Girls - I only saw the last season of reruns on the Family Channel. But the scene where Rory loses her virginity to 'Dean' was tasty. The Fam Channel just started reairing with the pilot on Monday so I'll be able to watch his character grow up.
