I see this meme going around -- the whole "learn more about the people on your friends list" meme.

I figure I'm a bandwagondy type, so I'll jump.

Here's what I've told other people so far:

I'm a night person & a morning person. But I don't much like afternoons. I think Nightmare Before Christmas has the best soundtrack of any children's movie ever. I like to buy movie soundtracks, and some of my favorites are Red Violin and Braveheart (which is also my favorite movie of all time). I have two phobias -- rejection and failure. I'm mildly allergic to pineapple, but eat it anyway because it is my favorite fruit. I have very long, very curly black hair -- the kind that, if wet, can be used to bitchslap people in the face. I used to think I hated eggplant, but it turned out I just hated the way my mother cooked it (and she's usually such a good cook). I have a fetish for hands that pops up fairly frequently in my fanfiction. Tori Amos is my favorite musical artist, but Rufus Wainwright's "Hallelujah" has the coolest lyrics ever.


So, yeah -- tell me something about yourself, if you feel like it. There are 29 of you now who have friended me, and most of you I don't know all that well.

I studied tap dancing for 14 years and 3 and a half weeks before my final exam I badly sprained my ankle while mowing our lawn. I then had to not practice in the lead up to the exam and complete it on a royally munted ankle.

I got Honours (top marks) though, as I had every year previous. I rawked! But I burst into tears after it cos I was in so much pain.

I studied classical piano for 13 years as a child/teenager. I dropped out of graduate school. I toured the east coast playing keyboards for a band in 1997. Before I embarked on my present career, i worked a number of jobs ranging from gogo dancing to interior housepainting. I have no pets. I'm from Tennessee and miss it something awful. I used to have a phobia of bandaids--still don't like them. I do have a phobia of large dogs.

I'm from California -- this tiny little conservative town no one's ever heard of. It was out in the country, where there were acres and acres of fruit tree orchards and my neighbor's feral cats kept down the gopher population. I went to a Catholic school a twenty minute drive away in Fresno, which some people have heard of (because this town/city produces enough meth to supply the entire world -- and I'm not even exaggerating).

Heh -- and I don't miss it at all. Though I do miss my friends from high school and my parents.

A few things people in RL usually don't know about me; I was a fire-eater for a while. I played the cello for ten years before I started to study opera. I have been completely naked on stage, (not as a stripper but in a theatrical production). I have no idea how to part with my paintings even though I need the money badly. I wish that I had a favourite composer, movie record etc. that could define more clearly who I am but there are just too many beautiful and marvellous things to choose from, I still wish that I could, though. I have tried out a larger part of the products from Lush.

Oh, wow. I've met some people interested in poi, but never met anyone who actually did fire eating on a regular basis for any period of time. When you said you'd been completely naked on stage, my first assumption was that you meant in the theater -- mostly because you strike me as a very artistic person.

I've never tried any products from Lush. What is Lush?

Lush is a company that sell things like soap, bubble-bath, skincare etc. basically everything one would imagine in a bathroom except that it all looks like (and sometimes smell like) candy, chocolate, pastrys or something edible. Most of the things will be cut up in the amount that you want, weighed, and wrapped in paper, like in a deli. They use organic fresh ingredients and nothing has been tested on animals. I love it. But I also love spending hours in the bathroom and having long, long soaks in the bathtub. I was surprised to find out that they don't have any stores in the United States. I just assumed so because they have stores all over the world on every continent, puzzling!

It was a bit silly of me to put down that I was naked at the theatre, in retrospect it would be more fun if people thought I was an old stripper.

Being a fire-eater is really not difficult at all, but very easy once you know how. I think it is getting started that puts people off, it can be scary to put a burning torch on your skin or in your mouth for someone who has never done it, even fire-breathing which is really a piece of cake might seem difficult at first, but it isn't. What does poi mean? I tried to look it up but couldn't find it.

It's a general term for fire play. I think the word itself is Hawaiian. I don't know if you ever saw Lilo and Stitch but there's some poin in that movie. The term covers pretty much everything from fire breathing to twirling flaming batons to fire whips.

Don't feel bad. I've been kissed. The kiss happened between me and one of my male friends when I decided I was fed up of having never kissed anyone. I've never been on a date of any kind. I feel so damn sheltered. It's frustrating.
