Artist: Bush
Fandom: TF&TF
Summary: Brian/Dom; Brian POV
A/N: Many thanks to my beta's. Thanks to
permetaform, for the inordinate amount of hand holding she did. Thanks to
gwyn_r for giving me such detailed input. Thanks to
boniblithe for saving my viewers from the big bad anvil. Shoutouts to
khaleesian, who got me into this fandom in the first place,
maygra,
thisisbone, and
mlyn who rekindled my love for it, and all the people who read my ridiculously long vidding posts and encouraged me to keep going. Also, I'd like to thank dear heavenly, uh...spirit...for providing us with the direct quart nitrous injection, four quarter inner coolers and ball bearing turbos and, uhm, titanium valve springs. And car porn. Amen.

Lyrics
I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways
I want you to surrender
All my feelings arose today
And I want you to remain
The power of children can amaze
I'll try not to complain
I know that's a pisser baby
The chemicals between us
The walls that lie between us
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier state
Than lying in this bed
I want you to remember
Everything you said
Every driven word
Like a hammer, hell, to my head
The chemicals between us
There is no lonlier place
Then lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier fate
Than lying in this bed
The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
Lying in this bed
We're of the hollow men
We are the naked ones
We never meant you harm
We never meant you wrong
And I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers, lovers, lover, lovers
The chemicals between us
The army of achievers
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier state
Than lying in this bed
The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
The chemicals
The chemicals between us

Date: 2004-11-24 07:16 am (UTC)TF&TF is the goooooood crack. This fandom needs more people! Once I get my shit together I'll be organizing links to the ship manifesto, the fic, the lj community, etc.

Date: 2004-11-24 01:34 am (UTC)i'm a lurker who's big into this fandom, previously unacquainted with your work. saw the vid, thought it was great. the music selection felt spot-on: it matched the tone of the movie. and then the video totally matched the feel of the music, (circular analysis, much? ;-)).
thanks for this treat - s

Date: 2004-11-24 08:34 am (UTC)I'm assuming you mean "remember" there? With Brian yelling and pointing? And yeah, I think that affected people more than I was expecting it to. I thought it looked cool when I did it, but I didn't know it was going to get the kind of emotional reaction you and Gwen described.
Whee! I got across "big emotion"! Yay!
I have this urge to break this down frame by frame, beat by beat, just to point and say "Look!!Look what you did there!! that's awesome." Because it is.
::blushes::
Oh, you flatterer.
all I could think is there's nothing that can rouse great anger as much as great love.
Hee -- yes! They're just so passionate, which works great in a vid because it's written into their expressions and their gesticulations.
You did a really excellent job of illustrating both what binds them together and what's likely to split them apart and how much effort it takes to overcome that.
Heeeee! Cool. Yeah, I want to get people into the fandom with this vid. Showing that it's really gay is one thing. Showing that it's a starcrossed kind of gay is something else altogether. I really wanted to get that second point across, because I know for me angst is like a car wreck, so to speak. I can't look away. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that people will see my vid and think "must read fic now."
Thankyou for such nice feedback!

You're so good for my ego.
It flowed very smoothly and the fades and transitions were very nice. I loved all the looks between those two because I knew they were really there it wasn't just manipulation.
Hee! That was a point of pride for me. I refused to let myself use anything out of context, so at the end of it I could say my vid wasn't falsely representing the movie in any way (yes it really is that gay).

Your clip use is spot on, full impact, knock me over and out of my shoes.
I'm so glad the vid had an emotional impact. I've seen the whole thing so many times I can't tell what's effective anymore.
:D!!!
Your use of white and black space is very effective, as are all of the effects in this vid.
I think the white and black spaces were some of the most instinctual parts of the vid, where I basically just listened to the music and thought "this sounds like a fade to black"/"no, this sounds more like a fade to white" and didn't actually have any solid reasoning for doing one or the other. Glad it worked for you!
Oh yeah, and the credits are genius, very cool.
I went a little...insane...over the credits. I was determined that they look exactly like the ones in the movie. I'm so glad people noticed them!

Date: 2004-11-24 08:32 am (UTC)khal shrieks out her window: "You! Get in here! Watch this vid! And if you don't think it's genius, I've got a torque wrench with your name on it."
....okay, more measured coherent feedback to follow, as soon as I can stop squeeing like a hysterical child.

Date: 2004-11-24 09:09 am (UTC)Just so you know, this is about the same reaction I had when I first read your fic. I was poking all my fandom friends on IM going, "Hey you! READ THIS!!!" They were like, "I've never seen the movie." I was like "I don't care. Read it or get shanked."

Date: 2004-11-24 08:57 am (UTC)And in the good way.
I liked the trope of using the car crash sequence and telling the story of how the relationship between Brian and Dom built in a non-linear way.
no subject
Date: 2004-11-24 10:34 am (UTC)I actually had this idea of Brian seeing Dom's car fly into the air and having their whole relationship flash before his eyes, so I basically constructed the vid as if it were actually taking place during the finale of the movie, with everything else being a series of flashbacks. I don't know if people actually got that sense when watching it. I don't suppose it really matters, cause it's more of a character study than a narrative anyway.
I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting!

Date: 2004-11-24 03:34 pm (UTC)That was fucking amazing.
Just ... all the time you spent on that and all the hair pulling I'm sure you did, totally fucking worth it.
I'm commenting in hopes that my repeated use of the word "fucking" will convey how fucking awesome this is.

Everyone is so pretty. Their love is so pretty. The end credits are pretty.

Love the repeated images, the super-imposed stuff showing their continuing conflicts, all of it. I never saw that look of Mia's before this vid. It's so cool!
The whole thing makes me ridiculously happy, and I'm off to watch it again.
I missed it earlier because I was out of town and hadn't managed to go back far enough in my Flist -- thank goodness for

Date: 2004-12-17 05:37 am (UTC)XD Good crack, hopefully. I'm so glad you pointed out the anvil, because the scene I exchanged for it was one of my favorite scenes in the movie that I'd been dissappointed about not being able to fit into the vid.
