I managed to get almost all my clipping done while on vacation. Yay! I might actually finish my BSG vid in time after all! I probably won't be able to get it beta'd tho.
:(
I still need to clip most of season 3 and Razor. I've finished my audio editing and have a fairly solid idea of what needs to go where in the vid. This is one of the few vids I've made where I'm more worried that I'm going to run out of song than I am that I'll run out of footage.
I lost my flash drive in Trinidad, but it was time for an upgrade anyway. No great loss. I just picked up an 8 GB sandisk today. You know, after all the clothes shopping I've been doing, I'd forgotten what it feels like to walk out of a store and not feel robbed. With clothes shopping, one year later the same quality product is twice the price. With electronics, one year later the same price gets you twice the product.
Ah got mah hair did. Relaxed and trimmed for only what worked out to be only $37 in US money. Some pictures were taken, but I have to wait for my cousin to post them since it was off his camera.
Trinidad was a lot of fun. I wish I'd had time to go to the beach more than once. I'd somehow forgotten that the country is predominantly black. Most of my family, at least my mom's side of it, is lighter skinned. It was a very interesting experience to be a minority because of how fair my skin is, instead of how dark.
The food was amazing. Practically everyone in my family is an excellent cook. Which works out to be a ton of people. One of my aunts made this amazing crab and dumpling curry with coconut that I really want the recipe for. One of my uncles made cow heel, which I'd never had before, but it was succulent and delicious. I ate pasteles and callaloo and a few different kinds of curry and roti and Maracas Beach's famous bake and shark sandwich and a million other things I can't remember off the top of my head, but they were all delicious.
Sadly, I did not get to see my favorite uncle, but there was plenty of other family to make up for it. Probably the highlight of the trip was when my cousin (the one with the camera) and his ex girlfriend (with whom he is friendly because they have a child together) took me to watch the Trinidad & Tobago vs. Mexico football match (in a sports bar) and then clubbing and we danced into the wee hours of the morning.
I thankfully did not get eaten alive by mosquitos like I did the last time I visited. I got maybe 5 bites (as opposed to the 40+ I recieved last time—no, that is not an exaggeration).
It was good to be there, but it's good to be home. Oh, how I missed you, San Francisco weather.
The Proposal comes out in 6 Days!!!
Does it make me a bad fan that I'm more excited for this movie than any of the genre films that came out this summer? Not that I didn't love me some Star Trek, but oh my God, it's a Devil Wears Prada fanfic come to life! Now with added genderswap! And Betty White!
Note: Yes, I do rememer I said I was going to post a vid review. It's still going to happen. Probably later this week.
