Okay so very favorite storytelling thing in any tv show is when a new episode reveals a missing scene or secret that forces you re-think a whole bunch of past events.
And FUUUUUUUUck so Quentin going on a suicide mission at the end of the last season takes on a whole new light. Specifically Quentin telling his dad that he’s going on a suicide mission to bring magic back, even with the knowledge that bringing magic back may bring back his dad’s apparently magical cancer and kill him, and his Dad asking Quentin “So, are you here to ask my permission?” and Quentin replying:
“On this quest, I’ve lived a whole life. I grew old, and I got married, and I had a son -- who grew old. And what was all that for if it’s not for this?”
And then to know that Quentin basically BEGGED Eliot to give them a chance and Eliot, that cowardly motherfucker, SHOT HIM DOWN, and Quentin just said "Okay, okay" just curled in on himself and fucking apologized to Eliot for having dared to ask Eliot to love him and that rejection, fresh in his mind, FIFTY YEARS.
WHAT WAS ALL OF THAT FOR IF IT’S NOT FOR THIS?
And then the monster take’s Eliot’s body and Quentin tells Julia that he doesn’t think it was worth it. That he wishes he’d never tried to bring magic back. That the quest was a mistake.
HOW DARE THIS FUCKING SHOW DO THIS TO ME I WASN’T EVEN TRYNA SHIP THIS GODDAMN SHIP.
Excuse me while I go listen to "The Only Exception" by Paramore on repeat.
