Lyrics
Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
Hello (x6)
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will be until the end
Hello (x6)
With the lights out
It's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid
And contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
Yeah
Hello, hello, oh...
With the lights out
It's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid
And contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us, yes
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
A denial (x4)
Yes, a denial

Date: 2004-04-21 12:26 am (UTC)You finished your pretty vid.
Okay, loved the first chorus.
Oh no, I know a dirty word
Brian's dirty word is so "regret". Or "longing". Anything to do with Justin. The hustler scene is a good choice. It could be taken so many ways.
All the "hellos" looked so painful. Like the greeting they give each other are. Good choice of the first one. It's the shocked look on Brian’s face that gives all the "hellos" that feel to them.
The second set also struck me as a resignation for Brian. Another painful realization for him. That Justin wasn't with Ethan anymore, but he can't have him back even though he wants too.
And I agree with Rhi on the backroom piano spot. It’s such a needy thing. Like Brian keeps on getting punched in the gut every time he encounters Justin.
With the lights out
It's less dangerous
Feels poetic and very emotional.
And Brian dancing alone and with Justin. Dream like. From Brian’s POV.
I love in the end, for every denial, it cut to the blurred glass scenes. It fit because of what they could have, shown in between, from what they are giving themselves. A blurred perspective. That it was here and now it's gone. That they can't get it back, when they really can.
I <3 it Lama

Yeah, the scene seemed to fit those lyrics. I guess because there is something a bit dirty and guilty about sleeping with someone because they look like the person you really want.

The first set of hellos kind of stand out from the rest of the vid. Everything else is slowmoving. I thought about redoing it, but ended up liking the contrast it made.
The second set also struck me as a resignation for Brian.
I think I picked that scene for the second set of hello's because it was like they were seeing each other in a way they hadn't seen eachother in a while. Kinda like a greeting.
There is that sense of frustration about it, though. Closer than they were, but still not close enough to touch. Explains the resignation.
And Brian dancing alone and with Justin. Dream like.
I didn't think of it that way when making it, but now that you mention it -- it is kind of dreamlike. Like the reality is Brian dancing alone, and the dream is Brian dancing with Justin.
Cool.
